Mustangs fall to Irrigon
Heppner Mustang Baillie Bennett pitches at the Mustang

Ladies Play Day results
Ladies Play Day was held on Tuesday, April 13, at
the Willow Creek Country Club. Results are as follows:
April 13
Low gross of the field was Loa Heideman. Low
net of the field w as Burul DeBoer.
Flight A winners: low gross was Virginia Grant;
low net was Jan Paustian; least putts was Karen Thomp­
son; and long drive was Virginia Grant.
Flight B winners: low gross was Lorene Mont­
gomery; and low net was Pay Dougherty.
Flight C winners: low gross was Bev Steagall;
low net was Luvilla Sonstegard; long drive was Luvilla
Sonstegard; and K.P. was Burul DeBoer.
Chip-ins were Lorene Montgomery on #6 and
Pat Edmundson on #7.
Intermountain High School
Rodeo to be held April 23-25
The 2010 Intermountain High School Rodeo will
be held on April 23,24, and 25 in Hermiston at the Farm
City Rodeo Grounds.
The IMHS Rodeo team will be hosting contes­
tants from all over the state of Oregon in the following
events: Cutting, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying,
Breakaway Roping, Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding,
Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Tie Down Roping, and
Bull Riding.
Local Heppner area students Devin Robinson,
Taighler Dougherty, Garrett Robinson, and Willy Gentry
will all be participating along with team members from
Helix, Pendleton, Hermiston, Stanfield and Umatilla.
Performance dates and times are as follows:
April 23 Cutting 10 a.m. Rodeo Performance #1; April
24 Rodeo Slack 9 a.m.. Rodeo Performance #2 1:00 p.m.,
Rodeo Performance #3 6 p.m.; April 25 Rodeo Slack 8
a.m.. Rodeo Performance #4 noon.
Admission is per performance: Adults $5 (12 &
under free) or a weekend pass for $15.

M ustangs bring home team trophy
The Heppner Mus­
tangs competed against 18
other track teams in Stan­
field on April 16 at the Dick
Horyna track meet. The
girls took home the team
title for the second year in a
row, while the boys finished
sixth.
Jordan Wright im­
proved his personal best
in the javelin by throwing
161 feet and earning third
place in the event. His pre­
vious best was 136 feet, 10
inches.
Jordan Hatfield ran
a season-best time in the
300-meter hurdles while
finishing second. Hatfield
finished first in the 110
meter hurdles and second
in the triple jump.
Alex Pickles was
third in the long jump.

sprinters dom inated the
400 meters. Erin Price ran
a district-best time in fin­
ishing first. Alana Wilson
finished third, and Kellie
N elson finished fourth.
Wilson also finished third
in the 200 meters and Nel­
son finished fifth in the 800
meters.
Price continued her
dominance in the hurdle
events. She finished first in
the 100 meter hurdles and
300 meter hurdles. Brynna
Rust was second in the
100 hurdles and third in
the 100 meter dash. Emilie
Andersen improved on her
personal best in the triple
jump and finished in second
place.

travel to Umatilla for the
River’s Edge meet this Fri­
day. They will also compete
at the Kiwanis Invitational
in Hermiston on Saturday.
The Mustangs host
next week’s meet on April

lone High School holds prom
IHS greenhouse to open for business
lone High School greenhouse will be open for
business beginning Thursday, April 29. The greenhouse
will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through
Thursday.
Janet Holland will host a class on Thursday, April
29, at 6 p.m. in the greenhouse. The cost is $ 10 per person
plus the cost of the plants used. Those planning to attend
can bring their pots or buy them at the greenhouse.

Volunteers are be­
ing sought to participate
in the latest weather spot­
ter training on April 27 in
Heppner.
The Skywa r n
Weather Spotter training is
free and will be held in the
Morrow County Emergency
Operations Center, located
at 320 South Willow View
in Heppner beginning at
6 p.m. and co-sponsored
by Morrow County Emer­
gency Management.
Skywarn spotters
attend a two-hour training
session where they learn
how to observe cloud for­
mations and other weather
in this area. The Weather
Service teaches how to
determine which storms
are potentially severe. Spot­
ters use a special toll free
number, amateur radio fre­
quency, or the internet ad­
dress to let the forecasters
at the National Weather
Service office in Pendleton
know what is happening in
their area. Meteorologists
use this data as they issue
severe w eather warnings or
statements to the residents
of Morrow County.
