    Morrow County Court weekly meeting held
Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon
The Morrow Coun-
ty Court met on February
17 in Boardman with Judge
Tallman, Commissioner
Grieb, and Commissioner
Rea in attendance. Follow­
ing is a summary of the
meeting provided by Leann
Rea.
The court reviewed
and approved the minutes
of February 10, 2010.
The court reviewed
and approved accounts
payable, retirement taxes,
and payroll in the net total
amount of $ 144,577.98.
Road Report
As of February 17,
geo tech fabric has been
laid, on all surfaces, and a
base course of rock has been
placed over the geo tech
fabric. The crew finished
the final lift of V* minus
gravel, to finish grade. The
Strawberry Lane portion of
the project is also finished
to final grade. Currently
the crew is installing a new
cattle guard on Strawberry
Lane. The storm water ditch
is 90% complete, includ­
ing the rip rap lining of
the ditch, this should be
completed by Thursday.
Next week guard rail and
signs will be installed. If all
goes well, the road should
be opened to traffic by the
end of next week. Rhea
Creek Road - This project
is shut down for now, as all
trucks are being used on
the Bombing Range Road
project. South End Trans­
fer Site - Miller and Sons
are working on this project
and have installed most of
the block work. Hopefully,
this w ill be completed next
week. Roads Graded - The
graders have been working
on the following roads:
Blake Ranch, Rand Road,
Sunset Road, Juniper Can­
yon Road, Grieb Lane,
Buttermilk Canyon, Parts
of Strawberry Lane, Fuller
Canyon, Skoubo Road,
West Glen Roads in Board-
man and Wagon Wheel
Loop in Irrigon. Airport
Shop Project - All framing
is complete and the electri­
cal work is being done on
the building at the airport,
which will be used as the
maintenance shop.
Weed Department
Dave P ranger,
Weed Control Superv isor,
provided the court with a
copy of a weed educational
handbook that was put to­
gether by our local crew.
This will be available at
the Road Dept, to interested
individuals.
Sheriff’s Department
Wednesday, February 24,2010
The Sheriff report­
ed that there is a problem
with individuals unlaw fully
trespassing on a piece of
foreclosed property in the
Irrigon area. The issue was
referred to county council,
Mr. Swinburnson and the
planning director, Carla
McLane as there has also
been a code violation re­
ported on this same piece
of property.
Finance Department
Fred Carlson, Mor­
row County Finance Direc­
tor and Cameron Anderson,
certified public accountant
with Barnett & Moro pre­
sented the audit report to
- THREE
the court. The court was
informed that this was the
last year on the bid from
Barnett & Moro to conduct
the county’s audit. Barnett
& Moro will be submitting
a letter of interest to con­
tinue th’is service.
Public Hearing
The court held a
public hearing for the for­
mation of a Communica­
tions Special District. This
matter will be on the May
ballot for consideration by
the voters in Morrow and
Umatilla counties. Marc
