Lady Cards fall to Riverside lone students participate
The lone Lady Car
dinals were almost able
to overcom e a lack lu s
ter turned dreadful first
quarter but came up short
against Riverside in a non
conference make-up game
played on January 18 in
Boardman.
The C ards were
down 0-17 before they got
points on the board and
trailed 3-17 at the end of the
first quarter.
The game was dead
even for the middle two
quarters and the lone ladies
outscored their hosts 16-7
in the fourth but the early
deficit proved to be too
much of a hurdle and they
lost the game 37-42.
Beth M orter led
the team in scoring with
22 points, 15 of those com
ing in the second half. She
also had 11 rebounds and
six steals. Shadow Ken
drick had eight rebounds
to go along with her four
points and C ollette C a
son contributed with five
rebounds, four steals and
three points.
“It looked like we
really didn’t want to be
here,” said Coach Mike
Garrett of his team’s dis
interested first quarter per
formance. “1 was proud that
we kept fighting and made
a game of it at the end. Be
ing down 17-3 against a 3 A
school, it would have been
easy just to give up and go
home.”
