Morrow County Court weekly meeting held
The Morrow Coun­
ty Court met on December
16 in Boardman w ith Judge
Tallman, Com m issioner
Grieb, and Commissioner
Rea in attendance. Follow­
ing is a summary o f the
meeting provided by Leann
Rea.
The court reviewed
and approved the minutes
of December 2.
The court reviewed
and approved accounts pay­
able, retirement taxes and
payroll in the net amount
of $174,922.83.
Road Report
The crew is con­
tinuing work on the Hwy
207 and Bombing Range
Road. The part north of
Hwy 207 is near grade
with not much more that
can be done until the road
is closed. Currently part of
the crew is working on the
detour routes to improve
their safety. The crew is put­
ting up new signs, cutting
brush back, sloping banks
on some of the comers and
installing delineators. Some
of the actions that have been
taken to inform the public
of the upcoming closure
were discussed. The actions
that had been taken during
and following the ice storm
were reported. A report on
the amount of snow in the
upper areas was provided.
There was approximately
eight to 10 inches of snow
on the Upper end of Willow
Creek Road and Coalmine
Hill and approximately a
foot of snow on the Sun­
flower Flat Road. All of the
gabion baskets have been
placed on the lone Goose­
berry Road and Pipeline
Loop Road intersection.
Planning Department
The first reading
of an amendment regard­
ing hardship dwellings, an
ordinance amending the
C om prehensive Plan to
include a locally significant
aggregate resource site and
Zoning Ordinance Article 2
establishment of zones was
held. The second reading
of an ordinance adopting
amendments to the Zon­
ing Ordinance Article 1
Introductory Provision was
heard and adopted by the
court.
Public Hearing
A public hearing
regarding the formation of
a communications special
district was held. All com­
ments provided were in
favor of the formation of
this district.
The court conduct­
ed the following business:
ADHD study in need of participants
Reviewed the H1N1 sta­
tus report; reviewed the
Triennial Review for the
Public Health Department;
a teleconference with the
managers of the county’s
retirem ent program was
held providing the count
with updated information
regarding the status and
plans for the near future as
well as long term; informa­
tion prov ided by the county
treasurer, Gayle Gutierrez,
regarding the payments to
the special districts for the
Echo Windfarms Project
and the Willow Creek En­
ergy’s Community Service
Fees was reviewed; the sta­
tus of the Needs and Issues
Awards was reviewed and
discussed. There are several
award recipients that need
to request extensions or
their funding will be lost.
Community Coun­
seling Solutions in Board-
man is currently recruiting
children ages 6-12 for an
Attention-deficit Hyperac­
tivity Disorder Telemental
Health Treatment Study.
Eligible children are those
who have already been
diagnosed with ADHD or
who might have ADHD.
The study is in need of ap­
proximately 50 more chil­
dren from this area.
Children must be
referred to the study by their
physicians. Once referred to
the study, applicants w ill be
screened. The ADHD study
w ill last for approximately
25 weeks with participants
in the study being paid.
The study is being
run by Dr. Kathleen Myers
of Seattle Children’s Hos­
pital and Laura Aviles, a
therapist with Community
Counseling Solutions in
Boardman

lone City Council holding public hearing
The lone City Council will hold a public hearing
at 6 p.m. at the lone City Hall on Tuesday, January 12.
The hearing is to discuss the proposed sale of
three city owned lots for senior citizen housing. The city
council is considering the sale of these lots to facilitate
housing close to downtown businesses.
The city council w ill hold its regularly scheduled
council meeting following the hearing, at 7 p.m.
