Heppner Garden Club
celebrates 40 years
The Heppner Garden Club celebrated 40 years of service on
Tuesday, October 6, with an open house at City Hall. Scrap­
books with new s clippings and pictures of projects the group
has been involved with over the last 40 years were on display.
The group celebrated with cake and punch. The Heppner
Garden Club is involved with many different projects includ­
ing yard recognitions, Christmas Green Workshop, Morrow
County Fair. Penny Pines for Oregon, and numerous youth
projects and scholarships. The garden club is always look­
ing for new members and they invite visitors to attend their
meetings. They want community members to know that you
don’t have to have a green thumb to join. Photo by Autumn

Sheriffs Report
The Morrow County
Sheriff’s Office reports han­
dling the following business:
July 25: Morrow
County S heriff’s Office
received a 911 call re­
garding a drunk driver in
Umatilla.
-MCSO received
report from an Irrigon
woman that a juvenile male
w alked into her house,
sat on the couch and fell
asleep. MCSO cited a ju ­
venile male for MIP. He
was released to his moth­
er. MCSO cited Thomas
William Baxter, 18, for
MIP. The woman did not
want to pursue trespassing
charges.
-MCSO received
report from a H eppner
woman that there was a
horrible skunk smell in
the air and it was hard to
breathe.
-MCSO received
a relayed report from OSP
of a Chihuahua loose in the
area, possibly abandoned.
OSP had no troopers in
the area. A deputy checked
the area and was unable to
locate anything.
-M CSO deputy
reported he was out with a
cow with a blue-green ear
tag. The owner responded
and returned the cow to the
proper area.
-MCSO received
report from a H eppner
subject that he had found
a VISA card. The card was
turned over to the sheriff’s
office and the owner came
into retrieve it.
-MCSO received
report that the lock at the
Heppner public restroom
was not working correctly.
Heppner Public Works was
advised.
-MCSO received
report of a cabin broken
into at Penland Lane out­
side Heppner. The reporter
said the thieves entered
through the front door and
took a couple fishing poles,
a cordless drill and alco­
hol.
-MCSO received
report from farmers that
they will be burning a gar­
lic field south of Hwy. 730,
Boardman.
-MCSO received
report of a missing juvenile
wearing a red shirt, brown
shorts and carrying a black
plastic sword at the Irrigon
M arina. The child was
found.
-MCSO received
report from an Irrigon
woman that two dogs were
dropped off at her resi­
dence. A deputy responded
and transported them to Pet
Rescue.
-MCSO received
report of a fire south of
Hwy. 730. The subject
was advised that it was a
controlled bum of a garlic
field.
-MCSO received
report of a vehicle on the
side of the road on 1-84,
Boardman, with a hay­
stack on fire in the back
o f the pickup. Subjects
were pulling the hay out
of the pickup. MCSO and
Boardman Fire Department
responded.
-M CSO d eputy
advised he was out on
security with assistance
from Oregon State Police,
Umatilla County Sheriff’s
Office and Umatilla Police
Department.
-MCSO received
report o f subject with a
broken ankle at the ga­
zebo in Irrigon. The sub­
ject refused transport and
was transported by private
vehicle.
-MCSO received
report of a dispute at the Ir­
rigon Marian. The subjects
handled it themselves.
-MCSO cited Ra­
mona Covarrubia Roman,
19, for No Operator’s Li­
cense and Violation of the
Basic Rule, 76 mph in a 55
mph zone.
-MCSO received
report from an Irrigon
woman that her 18-year-
old son had been in an
accident and said he was
going to take all of his pills
and there was nothing she
could do about it. A deputy
responded and the subject
was taken care of.
-MCSO received
report that M ultnom ah
County Sheriff arrested
Jeffrey Davis, 45, on an
Irrigon Justice Court war­
rant for Criminal Trespass
in possession of a firearm.
He was lodged at M ult­
nomah County Jail with
$445 bail.
July 26: Morrow
County S heriff’s Office
deputy advised subjects
that the Irrigon Park closes
at midnight.
-M CSO deputy
reported he was out with
a female who was com­
pletely stopped in the road
on Hwy. 207-B om bing
Range outside Lexington.
Deputy advised the subject
was extremely tired, but
she made it home safely.
-MCSO received
report of a full set of car
keys, a garage door opener
and a dog were found at
the east-bound rest stop
Boardman.
-MCSO received
report of a red Dodge Ram
pickup parked in the drive-
w ay of an Irrigon resident.
He said it had been there
since the previous night
and he did not know who
it belonged to. It turned out
the vehicle belonged to a
ffiend of the reporter.
-MCSO received
report that a rock was
thrown through a vacant
trailer in Irrigon. A deputy
responded and took a crim­
inal mischief report.
-MCSO received
report of graffiti on the
sidewalk and a tree be­
tween the restroom and the
shelter in Irrigon.
-MCSO received
report of two pit bulls run­
ning at large in Irrigon. A
deputy responded, but was
unable to catch the dogs
which took off toward the
refuge.
-MCSO received
report from Oregon State
Police of a motor vehicle
accident on Hwy. 730 be­
tween Boardman and Ir­
rigon involving a Chevy
pickup and a DirecTV van.
Boardman Fire D epart­
ment, Boardman Ambu­
lance, Irrigon Ambulance
and Irrigon Fire Depart­
ment were notified, but
OSP determined the crash
was west of mile post 180
and all units were can­
celled.
-MCSO received a
patched-through call from
CenturyTel concerning an
lone man who said he was
hungry' and needed assis­
tance. Dispatch contacted
his caretaker who said he
would check on him.
-MCSO received
report o f a one-vehicle
accident on Hwy. 730,
Umatilla, with one subject
trapped with a possible
broken leg and several
vehicles blocking. OSP
was advised and Umatilla
Police Department officers
were en route.
-MCSO received
request for a deputy to
make contact with a man
who w anted to get his
things back from his sister-
in-law who lived in Ir­
rigon.
-MCSO received
report from an Irrigon man
that a large dog attacks
him when he is riding his
bike. He wanted to sign a
citation. The owners were
advised that if the dog is
not kept in, they will be
cited.
-MCSO received
a request for a ride to the
hospital from a subject in
lone who advised that he
had burned his arm. lone
Ambulance responded, but
no one was at the residence.
They advised a computer
dialed 911, but no one was
at the residence.
-MCSO reported
that a H eppner subject
came into the sh eriff's
office regarding pills that
were given to his child.
-MCSO received
request from an Irrigon
man to have deputies go
by his place while he and
his wife were at work. He
adv ised no one was to be at
his residence and a married
couple that had been tres­
passed from his residence
may try and get belongings
from his house.
-MCSO received
report of someone playing
music very loud at apart­
ments in Heppner.
-MCSO and Board-
man Police Department
assisted Gilliam County
Sheriff"s Office concerning
someone shooting fire­
works o ff in dry grass
along the freeway.
-M CSO, Board-
man Police Department
received report from a
subject who said a male
subject was causing trouble
at a Boardman motel. She
said the male paid for the
room, used it for 15-20
minutes and then decided
he wanted a refund. He was
given a partial refund and
advised he would be going
to another hotel.
-Boardman Police
Department officer advised
he was out on a tugboat
with the front door open.
The officer checked the
boat, determined the own­
ers had been painting, so
pulled the door closed.
-BPD received a
911 call from non-English
speakers w ho said someone
called and harassed them.
BPD responded and made
contact with the caller, who
advised it would not hap­
pen again.
-BPD received re­
port of a horse with a sad­
dle running from Main to
Wilson in Boardman. The
owner was on the scene
when the officer arrived.
July 27: Morrow
County Sheriff’s Office
received report that the
Hermiston Police Depart­
ment arrested Angel Meza
Ezequiel, 36, on an Irrigon
Justice Court for Failure
to Appear/DUII. He was
lodged at Umatilla County
Jail with $6,000 bail. He
was also arrested by HPD
on local charges.

report that Oregon State
Police arrested Pedro An­
tonio Munoz Sanguino,
30, on an Irrigon Justice
Court warrant for Failure
to Pay Fine/Possession of
Less Than One Ounce of
Marijuana. He was lodged
at UCJ with $1,178 fine.

threatened on 1-84, Board-

ject that he had cows on
property and a bull in the
next pasture keeps break­
ing the fence and getting
with the cows.

porter believes is unsuper­
vised.

report from a Heppner man
o f an ongoing problem
with dogs barking at all
hours.

report from a subject on
1-84 near Boardman that
another vehicle was tailgat­
ing him, then passed him
and was speeding, then
putting the brakes on.
-MCSO received
report of a subject riding
an ATV on the streets in
Lexington. A deputy was
to advise the subject that
he was not allowed to ride
an ATV on the streets or
the curb.
-MCSO received
report of a large fire on
Depot property. Depot fire
response was at the scene.
-MCSO received
report from Heppner Am­
bulance that a vehicle failed
to yield and speeded up.
-MCSO received
report from an Irrigon sub­
ject that his daughter sold
a vehicle, but she didn’t
have the title at the time.
She since got the title and
was going to give it to the
buyer, but was not able to
make contact with him.
A deputy contacted the
subject.
-MCSO received
request for an ambulance
for an 81-year-old male in
lone with severe diarrhea.
Heppner Ambulance, lone

responded. Heppner Am­
bulance transported the
subject to Pioneer Memo­
rial Hospital in Heppner.
-MCSO received
report that a sergeant was
out at lone High School on
a follow-up.

man Police Department
received report from an
Irrigon woman that her
husband had tried to choke
her and was refusing to let
her leave. MCSO arrested
Shalon Garlynn Angel, 32,
for Harassment. He was
also arrested on a Umatilla
County warrant for Failure
to Appear/Possession of
M etham phetam ine and
DUII. He was lodged at
UCJ on a warrant and local
charges with a total bail of
$13,000.
-MCSO received
another request for deputy
contact.
-MCSO received
report from subjects that
they were having a verbal
dispute in Irrigon. It was
verbal only.
-MCSO received a
report of an on-going prob­
lem of a subject in Heppner
playing music too loud.
-MCSO made con­
tact with parents in Hep­
pner and advised them
no to let their 10-year-old
ride a scooter on a state
highway.
-MCSO received
report from an Irrigon fe­
male that another female
was harassing her. She re­
quested deputy contact.
-Boardman Police
Department made contact
with vehicles in the Board-
man Shell parking lot. The
subjects said they were
tired and were going to do
some star watching.
-BPD received re­
quest to speak to an officer
from a Boardman female.
An office responded and
determined that it was re­
garding a civil matter.
-BPD received re­
port o f an audible panic
alarm at a residence. An
officer responded. It was
not determined how the
alarm was tripped.
-Boardm an Fire
Department received re­
quest for mutual aid from
the Umatilla Army Depot
for a brush fire that was
spreading.
