REALTOR
THE “OPEN HOUSE”
The “Open House” method
o f selling a home
is one o f
the recent trends in real estate
An “Open House” does just
what the name suggests; it
opens the house to the general
public and. hopefully, gener
ates an interested buyer.
An “Open House” gives a
real estate agency the oppor
tunity to spotlight a particular
property and it gives both the
agency and the seller a chance
to hear viewers' opinions to
gether and to make adjust
ments in the market strategy if
necessary.
“Open Houses”
are usually held on either or
both Saturday and Sunday
afternoons. When a prop
erty is first listed, it is also
common to hold a "Brokers
Open House" to give the
area an opportunity to view
the house.
This minimiz
es disturbances to the seller
and the seller’s family. An
“Open House” is a popu
lar and effective means for
marketing most residential
properties.
Our agency
would certainly discuss the
merits o f this type o f mar
keting when selling your
home.

Land slide next to U.S.
395, drive with caution
The Oregon Department o f Transportation is moni
toring an 80-foot wide land slide adjacent to U.S. Highway
395 approximately 20 miles south of Pilot Rock.
The slide is located at mile point 37.1 in the Battle
Mountain area and has caused the down sloping hillside on
the west side o f the highway to drop a dozen feet in some
areas. It has not impacted the highway at this time.
As a safety precaution ODOT has closed the
southbound shoulder. Crews are monitoring the roadway
and working on plans to stabilize the hillside before the
highway is impacted. Motorists are adv ised to slow down
and pay extra attention in this area until repairs to the
hillside can be made.
