Notice of District Measure
Election - Amended
Morrow County School
District
Notice is hereby given on
March 10, 2009, that a mea
sure election will be held in
Morrow County, Oregon on
May 19, 2009.
The following shall be the
ballot title of the measure to
be submitted to the district’s
voters on this date.
CAPTION:
Morrow County School
District Three-Year Local Op
tion Serial Levy
QUESTION:
Shall Morrow County Dis
trict levy $1 per $1000 as
sessed value each year for
three years beginning 2009-10
for classroom education? This
measure may cause property
taxes to increase more than 3
percent.
SUMMARY:
This measure authorizes
the School district to levy a
property tax in the amount of
$560,000 each year for three
years beginning with the fiscal
year of 2009-10. The funding
would offset declining rev
enues from state funding.
The School District will
use the funds received to pay
for expenses related to edu
cational programs such as to
buy materials and textbooks,
to maintain the current level
of programs, and to maintain
class sizes at levels consid
ered appropriate for proper
education.
The estimated tax impact
of this measure is an average
of $1.00 per thousand dollars
of assessed value. It is impor
tant to note that a typical home
market valued at $100,000
would have an assessed value
of $70,000 in Morrow Coun
ty. For example, it is estimat
ed that if this measure passes,
the ow ner of a $ 100.000 home
would pay approximately $70
per year for three years only.
The estimated tax costs for
this measure is an ESTIMATE
ONLY based upon the best in
formation available from the
county assessor at the time of
the estimate.
