Oregon East Symphony receives $4,000 HES students partner with Heppner
grant from USBank Foundation

Sym phony was recently
presented with a grant check
in the am ount o f $4,000
from the USBank Founda­
tion. The presentation took
place today at the downtown
Pendleton USBank branch.

McCormmach, and Michelle
Day, as well as Executive
Director, Christina van der
Kamp, were on hand to ac­
cept the check from Branch
Manager Kathie Nooy.

organization and their com­
mitment to keeping our local
arts com m unity strong in
a time o f economic uncer­
tainty,” said van der Kamp.

Wednesday, November 26,
and remain closed through
Friday, November 28. They
will reopen Monday, De­
cember 1.
Youth who are re­
enrolling in 4-H are remind­
ed that enrollment forms are
due in the office by Decem­
ber 1 or be postmarked by
that date to avoid a late fee
o f $10.
7th Day Adven­
tist Church to
host concert
H eppner Seventh-
day Adventist Church will
host Hand Picked, a Blue
Grass Gospel musical group,
on Saturday, December 13,
at 5 p.m.
This concert is free
but donations will be ac­
cepted. Refreshments will
be served follow ing the
concert.

to help cover operating ex-
penses for the 2008-2009
concert season. OES is now
partway through its season,
with a Holiday Music Fes-
tival in December and two
more spring concerts on the
program.
Valby Lutheran Church
announced upcoming events

Church will celebrate the
season of Advent with eve­
ning gatherings on Monday,
December 1 and 8. A supper
o f soup and bread will be
served at 6 p.m., followed
by Holden Evening Prayer,
a brief service o f music and
lessons. Sunday w orship
continues at 9 a.m. weekly.
All are welcome.
On Sunday, Decem­
ber 14, an old-fashioned
Swedish smorgasbord will
be served at Valby begin­
ning at 4 p.m. A Christmas
program for all ages (dinner-
theater style) will be part o f
this event. The community
is cordially invited to attend.
