As students grow
older, it is so important to
keep books in their lives.
Students who remain read

be lifelong learners. Readers
develop larger vocabularies,
a greater knowledge o f the
world, and higher academic
achievement. In fact, studies
indicate that being a reader
is more predictive o f success
than intelligence, economic
background, or gender.
The Book Fair pro

You’ve ju st put a hefty

Reagan proclaimed the first
national Red Ribbon Week
in late O ctober o f 1988.
Since then, this drug preven

has been celebrated all over
the country.
This year, the high
school had a very successful
celebration of Red Ribbon
Week. The students were
asked trivia questions about
the harmful effects of drugs
and given anti-drug stick
ers and other various priz
es. Tuesday was “ Lei” O ff
Drugs Day and the student
body and staff donned their
Hawaiian attire. Everyone
wore red for Red Day on
Thursday. This year's Red
Ribbon Week was well sup

overall went very well.
