Harrison set to retire from BEO

Sharon Harrison has
been in the banking busi
ness for many years, but
on Friday, May 30, she will
retire from her position as
bank manager and assistant
vice president o f the Bank
o f Eastern Oregon in Hep-
pner.
In 1964 Harrison be
gan her banking career w ith
First National Bank in Hep-
pner. She worked there until
1969. In 1969 she decided
to stay at home and raise a
fam ily and work
on the ranch. She
raised three boys
and one girl and
also drove a wheat
truck.
In 1 9 8 6
Harrison decided
she wanted to get Sharon
back into the bank Harrison
ing business. She
went back to work
at First National Bank and
stepped right back into her
old job. Just six months after
her return, the bank changed
hands and becam e First
Interstate Bank. The bank
later became Wells
Fargo, then Klama
th First Bank, and
finally the Bank o f
Eastern Oregon.
Harrison is
looking forward to
her retirement. She
wants to be able to
spend m ore tim e
w ith fam ily and
friends. She is also
looking forward to spending
more time on her hobbies,
quilting and painting. She
also would like to do some
traveling, depending on the
price o f gasoline.
"I will miss my co-
w o rk ers,” said H arrison.
"The people you work w ith
become your family. I will
also miss the customers that
come in.” Harrison said that
she will probably be doing
some volunteer work around
the community.

the Heppner branch o f the
Bank o f Eastern Oregon
on Friday, May 30, from
1-3 p.m. The community is
welcome to attend.

ceremony for their Memo
rial Garden. The Memorial
Garden was a group project
that began this past fall in
hopes of contributing to our
school and community in a
way that would be mean
ingful. Storm y K endrick
was the inspiration for this
venture. Each rose is being
dedicated to an individual
who has passed away while
teaching or attending lone
schools.
In the c o u rs e o f
planning and creating the
memorial garden, the 2008
senior class o f lone High
School spent many hours
developing the requirements
o f inductees into the gar
den, fund raising for bronze
plaques and cooperating
with the school board and
education foundation in the
preparation stages. The class
began with a plan, wrote a
grant and approached the
education foundation for
additional funds, hosted a
carw ash to earn more funds,
coordinated the delivery of
red rock and roses and or
dered the bronze markers.
“ It was a trem en
dous effort by my class,”
said senior Abby Arnspiger,
chairman o f the garden proj
ect. “We really felt like we
contributed to our school
and our community."
The garden dedica
tion ceremony was attended
my 90 people with the far
thest traveling from Salt
Lake City, UT to attend the
service.
