Jung Ah, Eom (Chloe) - Korea
By Katie Kilkenny
Jung Ah, Eom has
com e to our sm all com
munity from Korea. She is
known to her American fam
ily and friends as Chloe. She
loves Heppner and really
likes the fact that it is a small
town. She came to America
because she wanted to learn
English, and become more
accustomed to our culture.
She was also really hoping
for a great experience. Back
home, Chloe left her father
and her mother, while her
brother is here in America
also.
Chloe really likes
American food, especially
spaghetti, even though she
does miss her favorite veg
etable dish K im chi. She
also really enjoys American
fashion as she likes how laid
back it is here in the States.
C hloe is 16 years
old here in A m erica, yet
in Korea she is 18. They
count their ages differently
than here in the States. For
example when they are bom
they are considered to be
one year old, not days and
months. In Korea you also
start school at age 6 (in
American ages) and gradu-
h

ate at 17. Chloe really wants
to go to college in Korea, but
she is going to miss football,
as she really enjoyed watch
ing the Mustangs this year.
She especially enjoyed the
state championship game.
C hloe w ould like
to also visit the h isto ri
cal and fam ous cities o f
A m erica like New York
and San Francisco. She is
also interested in American
politics, and even has some
opinions about our country’s
governm ent. She agrees
with our country’s feelings
about the situation in North
Heritage Land Co.

Korea. She feels bad for

Kim Jong.
On a lighter note,
she has found great friends
in Heppner, American or not.
Her best friends are actually
two exchange students from
other countries she would
never have gotten a chance
to meet if not for them meet
ing here. Kylie, a student
from K orea, and N ina, a
German student. With Chloe
they have formed a tight
bond you can see as they
walk and giggle in the halls
together. Chloe loves the
actress Jessica Alba and of
course American heartthrob
Brad Pitt, and enjoys listen

hopes to grow up to be a
pianist, and really enjoys
playing her piano.
Chloe is staying with
Chuck and Katie Foster.
