THE VACANT LISTING
It is not unusual for a prop
erty to be vacated sometime
before settlement. In many
cases, the owners relocate to a
distant city. As a homeowner/
seller, here is a list o f respon
sibilities for you (with your
Realtor's help) to take care o f
before you leave.
1. Leave your new address
and telephone number.
2. Leave a bank deposit slip
for depositing your proceeds
from the settlement or arrange
to have it sent to your new
address.

3. See that the deed is pre
pared for transferring title.
The deed, o f course, must
remain in your possession.
4. Verily insurance cover
age. Sometimes policy revi
sions are necessary if a prop
erty is vacant.
5. Landscaping m ainte
nance must be arranged for.
6. Final meter readings
should be taken at the appro
priate time, but be sure utili
ties are left on until then.
7. A steady supply o f oil,
if used for heating, should be
supplied.
