Student helps put out brush fire at HES
Earlier this summer,
the Heppner Fire Depart
ment was doing a controlled
burn near the Heppner El
ementary School. The next
day Kelly Fox, facility co
m
ordinator, noticed the fire
had tlared up again in the
brush pile. Fox phoned the
assistant custodian, Kathy
Cutsforth, to call the fire
department. Fox went to at
tend the tire and had fourth
grader Patrick Collins get
c*r
him a hose and turn on the
water. Collins was very
brave during the fire and
went to turn on the water but
their pump was off. Collins
worked very hard and fast.

based on the demonstrated need of the company with a 1:1 funding match required.
Grant applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until October

The new round tables purchased with a grant from
Wildhorse Foundation arrived on Tuesday, September 11,
and were set up by Kathy Turner, Judy Buschke, John
Gochnauer, Ellis Me Roberts and Billie Lacey for the
mealsite on Wednesday at the Senior Center.
The atmosphere was much more social, the people
stayed longer and visited and the overall appearance was
wonderful. Anyone interested is welcome to check them
out and join the Senior Center for a meal.
