days of fun activities for the
annual Celebrate Heppner!
Friday’s activities
included a barbecue spon
sored by the Bank of Eastern
Oregon, a kids’ footrace,
sidewalk chalk drawing, egg
races, hot dog eating con
test, talent show, pie contest
and auction, small dog race,
dunk tank and downtown
merchant sidewalk sale.
Saturday, the ‘Din
ner at the Cemetery’ play

BEO breaks
ground for new
building in
Boardman

Bank of Eastern Oregon
broke ground Wednesday
for its new 3,500-square-
foot financial services
center.

the Boardman Chamber of
Commerce Ambassadors
dug in to start the project.
The building is expected to
be available for occupancy
in December, said George
Koffler, bank president and
chief executive officer.
S itu ated at 100
City Center Drive, the new
building will replace the
bank's smaller branch on
Northwest Front Street and
provide room for growth.
“Bank of Eastern Oregon
has had a very successful
10 years in the Boardman
market and our new build
ing positions us for the
expanding commercial and
consumer business being
generated from new hous
ing and development in the
Port of Morrow,” Koffler
said. “The bank is invest
ing in the future of the city
of Boardman and we are
proud to occupy an anchor
location in the City Center
complex.”
Sargent Architects
of Hermiston designed the
building. The bank has hired
Mike Becker General Con
tractor Inc. of La Grande
to build it. The single-story
building features two drive-
up banking lanes, each wide
and long enough for two
vehicles towing horse trail
ers, with a drive-up ATM
and night depository. A
high-ceiling banking floor
is flanked by an expanded
lending platform and sup
port areas. The building
design allows for expansion
off of the wings as future
needs dictate.
BEO Bancorp is the
holding company for Bank
of Eastern Oregon, which
operates 1 I branches and
three loan production of
fices in nine eastern Oregon
counties. Branches are in
Arlington, lone, Heppner,
Condon, Irrigon. Boardman.
Burns, John Day. Prairie
City, Fossil and Moro; loan
production offices are in
Hermiston, Ontario and
Enterprise.
