there several months now,
and, a c c o rd in g to Jean
Jepsen of the lone American
Legion Auxiliary Unit #95,
he says that many of the men
need tube socks. According
to Morris, the problem is
that the temperature has
already reached 120 degrees
there and the men have no
way o f washing socks in
the field. Many recruits
have foot problems due to
this situation. According to
Jepsen, Morris said that if
people send the socks to him
in Iraq, he will make sure
the recruits get them. “ I’m
sure he would appreciate
k n o w in g p e o p le from
Morrow C ounty support
him," said Jepsen.
The socks may be
sent to the lone American
Legion Auxiliary Unit #95

celebration
The lone community
is gearing up for its annual
Fourth of July celebration.
This year's activi­
ties will get underway with
the golf tournament, which
will be held July 3 at the
China Creek G olf Course
in A rlington. The talent
show will also be held that
day at 7 p.m. at the lone
City Park amphitheater and
stage. Musical entertain­
ment that evening will be
by Ben McCarl and Friend,
and Victor Johnson, a blues
musician from Hood Ri\er.
Food and drink by Taylor's
Restaurant and Lounge will
be available.
Activ ities will begin
Wednesday, July 4, at 9 a.m.
with the fish pond, topic
club hook and button sales.
Parade lineup is planned
for 10 a.m. with the Red,
White and Blues-Cruisin
to the Blues Parade to start
at 11 ,ni. Wayne Hams will
be the grand marshal this
