playoffs. The Mustangs, now
24-3 for the year, scored all
of their runs with two outs,
including nine runs in the
fourth inning to tie the game.
The

played at Riddle on Tuesday,
May 29, with the winner
advancing to Keizer Stadium
in Salem on Friday, June 1,

Stanfield.
The Eagles took a 7-
0 lead before the Mustangs
got on the board in the
bottom of the third when
Quinn Peck reached on an
error and ended up scoring
on a balk.
The Eagles took a
10-1 lead in the top of the
fourth and had two outs and
nobody on befo re the
Mustangs woke up. Wacy
Coil was hit by a pitch,
Nathan Kennedy walked,
Colton Hanson and Chance
Day had RBI singles and
Dennis Kenny was hit by a
pitch to load the bases. That
brought up Peck who blasted
the first pitch he saw into the
w ind over the right
centerfield fence for a grand
slam that cut the lead to 10-
7. The M ustangs w eren't
done there though as Andre
Rauch reached on an error.
Naeho Elguezabal singled
and Josh Shank came in to
run for him. Bryan Holland
scored both with a single. He
then stole second and scored
on a Coil double to tie it 10-
10 .
It that way as neither
team could get the clutch hit
they needed to break the tie
until the bottom of the ninth.
Holland singled. Kennedy
reached on an error, and w ith
two outs Day reached on a
throwing error and Holland
came home to score and end
the game.
Peck went 2-5 with
four RBIs and scored twice;
Holland went 2-5 with two
RBIs and scored twice; Coil
went 2-4; and Hanson had
two RBIs.
Drew Johnson came
on in relief in the fourth
inning with two on and no
outs and went five scoreless
innings, striking out four,
walking two and allowing no
hits. Day picked up the w in
by striking out the side in the
top of the ninth.

to Get a Clue at your local
library. The 2007 Summer
Reading Program is open to
young people, preschool
through eighth grade with
programs, prizes, a puppet
show and more.
Registration for the
Summer Reading Program
begins on Friday, June 1, at
the Boardman. Heppner and
Irrigon libraries. Schedules
of program s will also be
available on June 1. All pro­
grams are free of charge.
On Saturday, June 9,
the program will kick of with
the Dragon Theater Puppets
presenting The Clueless De­
tective at 10:30 a.m. at Hep­
pner Elem entary School.
Pre-registration is required.
The workshop is limited to
50 participants age 7 and up.

outdoors.

different sessions over the

technician, Travis Schultz,
taught fire skills and various
survival techniques to use

Warehouse representatives
Ryan and Dewey brought
various items for camping
and backpacking. They even
gave away a tent, which was
won by Garrett Gibbs. For­
est Service employees An­
drew and Cameron taught
campers how to use a map
and compass by hiding jars
of candy throughout camp.
The second day
campers learned basic first-
aid techniques with Heppner
EMT Shannon Boor. And
Harper family of Heppner.
All the cam pers cooked

peach cobbler and did an ex­
cellent job. There were no
leftovers.
