Where will the pink flamingos show up next?
Pink llamingos decorate the front of Tom and Karen Wolff’s
house on Kock Street. Recipients of the flamingos must pay
a minimum of $5 to have them removed, hut may pick their
next destination. The flamingos are a fundraiser by the
Heppner Chamber of Commerce to raise money for new

Mr. Bill’s Traveling Trivia
contest
to
be
held
Mr. Bill’s Traveling Trivia is back! The trivia contest
will be held Saturday. April 28, at 7 p.m. at the Heppner
Elks Lodge. Proceeds will go to the Heppner Daycare/
Preschool.
Teams may consist of up to six players and will
compete in categories such as sports and leisure, music,
TV, movies, history, geography, science, nature, and
children's trivia. The entry fee is $ 120 per team.
Door prizes will be featured throughout the evening.
Second and third place teams will win special prizes and
the team placing last will win a consolation prize. The
winning team will receive special prizes, bragging rights,
their picture in the newspaper, and their w in on “Mr. Bill’s”
website.
Entry forms and fees must be turned in to Heppner
Daycare/Preschool at 330 NW Gale Street or the Heppner
branch of the Bank of Eastern Oregon by April 23. For

Holly Rebekah
Lodge has been busy the last
few months. They have
w elcom ed four new
members: Diann Nagels,
Yung N elson, Marlene
Pointer, and Dwyla Yocom.
For fundraisers they have
held their monthly card
parties, sold lunches to the
Old Time Fiddlers and plans
are currently underway for a
yard sale. For community
service the Lodge sold raffle
tickets to raise funds for
Emma Gray Clemens who
has Cystic Fibrosis. They are
now saving can pull-tabs for
the Kidney Association.

in the Heppner area.
Willow Creek Symphony and Singers to perform
The Willow Creek
Symphony and Singers will
present a spring concert on
Sunday, April 15. at 4 p.m.
at the Heppner Elementary
School gym. Joining them
for the concert will be the
Wallowa Valley Orchestra.
The combined orchestras
and choir number over 70
musicians from throughout
Morrow, Um atilla, and
Grant counties, including 24
youth and adults from South
Morrow County.
The two orchestras
will perform several pieces
together, including music
from the movie, “Pirates of
the Caribbean,” “Russian
S ailor’s D ance,” and
Dvorak's “New World
Symphony." The Singers will
perform a variety of songs
including "Au Clair de La
Lune,” Mozart's “Alleluia,”
Red Hat Society Tea
and “Sweet Caroline” by
Neil Diamond, performed
along with the orchestra.

singers are conducted by R.
Lee Friese from Athena,
along with three assistant
conductors, including Karl
Blaeuer. music teacher at the
lone Community School.
A dm ission is free, and
refreshments will be served
follow ing the concert.

Members traveled to

April 1. Officers for 2007-

Cardinal Booster Club meets
Cardinal Booster
Club met Monday, April 2,
at the school library.
President Lynn Dee Ramos
reported on the weight room
project. A new site for the
project may need to be
selected due to FEMA
guidelines. Jerry Gentry and
Brett Cook are working with
Ramos on the club's options.
The
framed
motivational posters the club
purchased have been put up
in the high school hallway.
Dean Robinson is
writing an article with more
information regarding the
lone High School Hall of
Fame. It will be on the school
website under Booster Club.
The Hall of Fame application
is already available at that
site. It was suggested the
club have a web page on the
school site. Robinson will
check with the tech class
teacher to see if the students
could create the page.
The club voted to
provide the speech team with
$200 to attend the state
competition.
Robinson expressed
concern over the price of
officials at the basketball
tournament. Several fund
raising ideas were suggested
to offset the cost.

expressed appreciation to
Debbie Morgan for notifying
people and collecting money
for the district basketball ad.
The next meeting of
Cardinal Booster Club will
be Monday, May 7, at 7 p.m.
in the school library.

Students in Beth
Dickenson’s Horticulture/
Wildlife Management class
are working on the identi­
fication of 33+ varieties of
flowers being grown in
their greenhouse during a
quiz. The students in­
volved in the course have
been busy this year rebuild­
ing the greenhouse, as well
as growing thousands of
plants that are going to be
sold at the Heppner Ag Pro­
gram's first, hopefully annu­
al. plant sale.
The sale will be open
to the public May 9 and 10
from 3 to 6 p.m. and May 11
and 12 from 11 a.m. to 6
p.m. There are many variet­
ies of plants for the home,
garden and any place in bc-
tween, including vegeta­
bles. hanging baskets (de­
signed by the students),
petunias, marigolds, lobe­
lia. portulaca, begonias,
geraniums, and impatiens.
Pansies are available now.
