Heppner Donation Directory Project progresses
The
Heppner
Community
Donation
Directory Project is moving
forward under the direction
of project manager John
Edmundson. This project
includes identifying all
community entities that
make charitable donations
for worthy purposes and
compiling the information
for these entities as to their
leadership,
contact
information, procedures for
making requests and the
types of purposes they
support.
This information will
be available for any
individual or organization
seeking donations to support
their particular project.
The majority of the
information for service
clubs, church organizations,
public/private organizations,
public
organizations,
education organizations,
scholarship funds, health
organizations, fraternal
organizations, and other
organizations has been
received.
The information for
about half of the community
businesses has been
received. Contact with the
rest of the businesses is
ongoing.
Any business that
does not wish to be in the
directory will not be listed.
The directory will be
in an electronic file located
only at the Heppner Branch
of the Oregon Trail Library
District.
When the compiling
of the directory is
completed, a committee of
community leaders will
review the data and make a
decision as to whether a
general purpose Heppner
Community Foundation is
needed to assist in funding
small community-oriented
development projects that

are not covered by existing
organizations and entities.

On January 10 at
approximately 12:30 a.m., a
Morrow County Deputy
attempted to stop a black
SUV. The operator refused
to yield and sped through a
plowed field that could not
be traversed by the patrol
vehicle. A short time later,
the Morrow County
Communications Center
received a 911 from a
resident on Sunset Lane
reporting that a vehicle had
just driven into their yard
from a field.
The
resident
reported that the vehicle had
attempted to ram through a
fence and had gotten lodged
there. A male had exited the
driver’s side and ran away.
A female
passenger
identified as Kimberly Kay
Scherwinka, 31 years of age
out of Enterprise had
remained at the scene.
A search of the area
was carried out with
assistance from Boardman
Police Department, Oregon
State Police, and Umatilla
Police Department. The
