I
I would like to thank the
Heppner Chamber of Com
merce for selecting me for
"Woman of the Year" for 2007.
I can honestly say that I was
very much surprised and still,
quite frankly, in shock. 1 hope 1
can live up to this amazing rec
ognition. (Thank you Mr.
Edmundson for the quote. You
are still teaching me life les
sons!)
1 also want to thank my good
friends Gina, Carol and Karan
for the nomination. You guys
are such wonderful friends and
1 am very blessed to have you
in my life. Gina, you were
amazing! Getting up there in
front of all of those people and
talking me up like you did! You
were so courageous! 1 am so
very proud of you!
Tom, Charissa and Billy... 1
love you guys with every hit of
my heart. Thank you for put
ting up with "Mom is doing it
again!" 1 know that sometimes
things took my full attention
away from you but you never
raised a fuss. Thank you for
your unselfishness, your under
standing, your support and
your love.
To my friends... Thank you
for all the wonderf ul words, e-
mails, hugs and pats on the
back. I know that you all would
have been there had you have
known. Thank you for putting
up with all of my e-mails ask
ing you to work, bake pies, or
to do this or to do that. You’re
wonderful people! (Footnote: It
is very rude to delete e-mail
messages from the Woman of
the Year so 1 had better not hear
of such activity taking place!)
1 want extend my congratu
lations to Ken Bailey, Dave
Fowler, RJ Farrens, Alvin Liu
and JoAnne Burlson. I am feel
very humbled to he included
with such dedicated and deserv
ing people.
Josie... you and your court
are simply stunning. I know
that you girls will represent
Morrow County with the ut
most pride and dignity. I hear
that you have big plans for you
and your court this year. Have
fun, 1 know you girls will make
Morrow County very proud.
How about those kids!! They
were spectacular! There is no
music more beautiful than
songs being belted out from
energized children!
The entire evening was very
special to me, 1 will remember
it for the rest of my life.
Thank you everybody!
Arlynda Gates

1 would like to thank the
Heppner Chamber of Com
merce and the community for
selecting me as Man of the Year.
This is such a nice honor, and
means very much to me.
1 have always felt lucky to
call Heppner home. It is a great
place to live, raise my kids, and
run my business. Wc have a
very special community here;
being involved and giving back
is just part of the deal.
1 would like to thank my
family for always standing be
side me and keeping the secret,
you totally surprised me.
Meghan, Justin, Madison, Jer
emy, Jode and Lindsey, thank
you all for making the trip on
not so nice roads. It meant even
more to have our family all to
gether.
Also, thanks to the many
special friends who came to
share the evening with us. Life
is good.
Special thanks to Nicole
Mahoney for the “little white
lie” to get me there.
Congratulations to all the
other winners... thanks again
for the nice surprise.
