was 92. Funeral service was
held December 30, 2006, at
Burns Mortuary Chapel in
Hermiston with burial to
follow at Desert Lawn

Irrigon.
Mrs. Mills was born
June 8, 1914, in Denver, to
Andrew and lola Glines
Diltz. She and her husband
owned the Rainbow Roller
Rink in Owensboro, Ky., for
several years. She was a
resident of Irrigon the past
26 years.
She
enjoyed
crocheting, sewing, knitting
and watching television.
She is survived by
daughter, Martha Rock of
Irrigon; sons Jim Mills Jr. of
Utica. Ky., Warren A. Mills
of Skellytown. Texas, and
Michael Svetlik of Santa
Ann,
C alif.;

grandchildren; 34 g reat­
grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; husband; and
daughter, Bobbe Wilkinson.

Friday, December 22,2006,
as the result of an automobile
accident. A memorial service
was held W ednesday,
January 3, 2007, at the Zion
Lutheran
Church

Redmond.
Jared was born
February 23, 2985. at Bend
to Dave and Kelly (Jack)
Price. He graduated from
Marshall High School in
2003. He was employed as
a concrete finisher. He also
was a wildlife firefighter.
He enjoyed music,
art. and spending time with
friends and family.
Survivors include

Terry L. Springer
died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006,
in Bend. He was 5 1. A
memorial gathering will be
held at a later date in The
Dalles.
Mr. Springer was
born Nov. 29, 1955, in
Pendleton, to Leroy and Pat
Springer. He graduated from
Pendleton High School and
moved to The Dalles where
he worked for the Wasco
County Road Department
for 28 years. He retired as
road superintendent in
March 2006.
He m arried Tona
Moffit in June 2001.
Mr.
Springer
en jo y ed the outdoors,
cooking, and riding his
motorcycle.
He is survived by his
wife; parents; daughters,
Kristi Springer and Heather
Springer, both ofThe Dalles,
and Angie Lynch of
Kennewick, Wash.; sisters,
Leslie Suter of Boardman
and Sandy Staudenmaier of
Fairbanks, Alaska; brothers,
Mike Springer and Kelly
Springer, both of Pendleton;
four granddaughters; and a
grandson.

Pendleton. Mr. Brindle then
worked for many years as
farm equipment and parts
sales representative for R&H
Machine, A Caldwell. Idaho
based company. He retired
in 1983. The couple has
co n tin u ed to reside at
Pendleton since.
He greatly enjoyed
the outd o o rs including
hunting, fishing, riding four
wheelers and snowmobiles.
He had been a member of the
Elks Lodge as well as the
Skyline Snowmobile Club,
and a past board member of
the Babe Ruth Association.
He is survived by his

Pendleton; three children,

Donald Abercrombie, died
Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, at a
foster care home in
Hermiston. He was 77. At
his request, there will be no
service. Disposition was by
cremation with private burial
in the Hermiston Cemetery.

On Sept. 25, 1976, he
married I la Mae Albee in
Pasco, Wash.
Mr. A bercrom bie
was a World War II veteran
of the U.S. Army. He moved
to Hermiston in 1949.He
was a m echanic and
machinist for the Umatilla
Army Depot for 30 years.
He is survived by

Cemetery. Pendleton. Pastor

gathering of friends and
family followed at the Elks
Lodge in Pendleton.
Mr. B rindle was
born May 17, 1920, in
Colfax, Washington. He was
the son of Marley Brindle
and Eda Mae Mays. He was
raised and e d u cated in
Colfax. After his schooling,
he worked at many jobs
including working for Coca
Cola, and sold farm
equipm ent in Moscow,
Idaho. He also lived in
Heppner and Enterprise,
Oregon where he farmed

Mr. Crenshaw, 92,

Saturday, D ecem ber 23,
2006, at Ashley Manor in
Hermiston.
Funeral service was
held December 28, 2006, at
Fisher Funeral Home in
Albany. Burial will be at
Franklin Butte Cemetery in
Scio, Oregon.
Mr. Crenshaw was
bom August 30, 1914, on his
parents' homestead near
Lonerock, Oregon, the fifth
of nine children born to
Steve Pleas and Celia Jane
Crenshaw. His family later
moved to Scio where he
graduated from high school
and met his wife of 70 years,
Sylvia Bartu. The couple
was m arried at Scio on
August 4, 1935.

1980. He and his wife also
ow ned a farm near Scio
which gave them great joy.
The raised sheep, cattle and
hay and spent many summers
teaching their grandchildren
and other youth their work
ethic. At age 80, he and his
wife moved into the town of
Scio, where he still kept a
large garden and shared
many vegetables, fruits and
flowers with anyone who
stopped by to visit. He was
especially well known in
tow n for his vibrant zinnias
which lined their driveway.
In the spring o f
2001, they moved to
Hermiston to be closer to
their daughter and family,
resid in g at Rose A rbor
Assisted Living. His wife,
Sylvia, preceded him in
death in 2005.
Survivors include
brother, Oswald Crenshaw,
of McMinnville; son, Larry
Crenshaw and wife Ruth of
Scio; d a u g h ters, Cathy

Paul, of lone; grandchildren,

entrepreneur, self-employed
for most of his life.
Mike met Lilli Bocci
in Kenton in 1945 at First
National Bank where she
was working. They were
married January 23, 1949,
and spent two months in
South and Central America
and

on
their
honeymoon.
Mike was a very
kind, caring and generous
person to family and friends.
He enjoyed their many family
vacations and gatherings. He
always had a smile and open
arms for his grandchildren.
He passed his love of animals
onto his ch ild ren and
grandchildren.

Catholic Church in Portland.
Mike was born
January 19, 1918, in
Heppner. He was the son of
Mary Ellen H ughes and
Michael Healy. Mike was the
fourth of six children. His
father was an Irish immigrant
who settled in Heppner as a
sheepherder. His mother was
born in H eppner and
survived the Hood of 1903.
Mike never forgot where his
roots were. Heppner always
held a special place in his
heart. He was a weekly
reader o f the H ep p n er
Gazette and always enjoyed
his visits to Eastern Oregon.
His family moved to
Boardman in later years,
where Mike graduated from
Boardman High School in
1935, with a class of nine
students. The day after his
high school g rad u atio n ,
Mike moved to Portland.
In 1936 Mike began
w orking on the Union
Pacific Railroad, where he
remained for nine years as a
conductor and brakenian. In
1945 he started Amusement
Service Company in Kenton.
In 1957, he purchased two
restaurant/bars in Portland.
Scotty Ray Johnson,
a lifelong sportsman and
family man. died Saturday,
Dec. 23, 2006, in Umatilla.
He was 50. A memorial
gathering will be held at 3
p.m. Saturday. Jan. 6, 2007
at his n ie c e 's hom e in
Hermiston. Disposition was
by cremation.
Mr. Johnson was
born at Oroville, Calif., to
Veldon Ray and Arlene
Wiley Jo h n so n . He was
raised in Chico, Calif., and
moved to Milton-Freewater
where he lived for several
years before settling in
Hermiston.
Mr. Johnson enjoyed
hunting, fishing, working on
cars and playing with his
dogs. He also en jo y ed
spending tim e with his
family.
He is survived by
brothers. Johnny Johnson of
Walla Walla. Edwin Johnson
of Adelanto, Calif., and Ron
Johnson of Ontario; three
sisters. Darlene Johnson of
Walla Walla, and Ginger
Johnson of Irrigon; his life
companion, Sandy Moore of
H erm isto n ; and several
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was
preceded in death by his
parents; a brother. Vernon
Johnson; and a nephew,
Veldon Johnson.
