Downtown trees in need o f
decorators for the holidays
Some trees on the
sidewalks of Heppner need
adoption during this holiday
season, says Terry Baker,
Heppner Chamber o f
Commerce
executive
director. Baker says that
each year those who have
adopted the trees buy lights
to put up for the season and
then take them down and
keep the lights at their home
until the next year. This year,
however, some of those who
have adopted trees in the
past are elderly or have
passed away, leaving some
trees in need of decorators.
Baker says that the
trees
do
not
need
maintenance or caretaking,
just someone to decorate
them for the holidays. This
year decorators are asked to
put up the lights on
November 21 or 22. when
electricity will be available.
The trees w ill be lit on
November 24. Baker says
that it is hoped that the white
mini-lights w ill be available
locally this year, so that
people do not have to go out
of town for the decorations.
Anyone who would
like to volunteer is asked to
call Baker at the Chamber
office. 676-5536. as soon as
possible.
