at 11 a.m. Friday. Oct. 20 at
St. Mary's Catholic Church
in Pendleton.
She was born Nov.
3, 1931 in Portland to Betty
K ilkenny and R ichard
Lawrence. She and her sis­
ter, Tricia Boylen grew up in
Heppner.

School in Pendleton, Kott­
kamp attended the Universi­
ty of Oregon where she met
her
husband.

Kottkamp. She graduated
from the University of Ore­
gon in 1954 with a bache­
lor’s degree in history.
She m arried John
Kottkamp in 1954. The cou­
ple enjoyed 46 wonderful
years of marriage.
The

raised their family in Pendle­
ton where Ann was active in
the lives of her children and
g ra n d c h ild re n . She c o ­
owned a small business in
Pendleton for several years.
K ottkam p
was
known throughout the com­
munity as an amazing quil-
ter and crafter. During this
time in Pendleton, she en­
jo y e d q u iltin g w ith her
friends, watching the Pendle­
ton Round-Up, experiencing
good times with her family
and friends, vacationing at
the Oregon Coast and trav­
eling to see her children and
grandchildren.
A fter the death of
her husband, John, Kottka­
mp moved to Walla Walla,
Washington to be closer to
family.

Jones was born Jan.
11, 1929, in Anaconda, MT
to Harry Elmer and Helen
McCarthy Jones.
He m arried Edith
Doris LeLacheur on April
15, 1950, in Bozeman, MT.
Jones worked in the
su g ar indu stry as plant
m anager; he trav eled to
many sugar plantations.
He and his wife
moved to Irrigon in 1978. He
was a member of Our Lady
o f G u ad alu p e C ath o lic
Church in Boardman.
He loved golfing,
watching TV, playing cards
and horses.

Elwyn Leroy “Roy"
Hughes, 68, of Heppner,
died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006 at
his home.
A private family me­
m orial service was held
Oct. 11.
He was born July 4,
1938 at Heppner, the son of
Elwyn and Maude Bailey
Hughes. He was raised and
attended school in Heppner.
Hughes served with
the U nited States C oast
Guard for a number of years.
He was a long haul truck
driver until his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting
and fishing.
Survivors include his
mother, Maude Hughes of
Condon; son. Brian Hughes
of Albany; granddaughter,
Sierra Hughes of Albany; sis­
ter, M argaret Hamm of
Richmond, VA; brother, Don
Hughes of Vancouver, WA;
former wife, Leora Barham
of Albany and long-tim e

died Wednesday, Oct. 11,
2006 at Kadlec M edical
Center in Richland, WAas a
result of a motor vehicle ac­
cident.
A graveside service
with dedication of the grave
was held Monday, Oct. 16,
at the H eppner M asonic
Cemetery. A memorial ser­
vice was held Oct. 16 at the
Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints in Her­
miston.
She was born Jan.
21, 1948 at Colville. WA. the
daughter of W illiam and
Dorothy Moore Myers. She
was raised and attended
school in Spokane, WA,
graduating from East Valley
High School.
On Sept. 8. 1970 she
married Daniel Michael at
Coeur d’Alene, ID. The cou­
ple resided in Spokane and
C olville until moving to
Troy, MT in 1975. They
moved to Gasquet, CA in
1979. They returned to Or­
egon in 1984 residing in
Tokadee Falls. In January of
1988 the couple settled in
Heppner.
Michael received an
associate’s degree from Blue
Mountain Community Col­
lege in 1997.
Michael enjoyed her
family, especially her grand­
children, gardening, flowers,
camping and sewing. She
was a seminary teacher and
had been a long time volun­
teer for the Red Cross. She
was a member of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints.
Survivors include
her husband, Dan Michael of
Heppner; sons, Clint Micha­
el of Cornelius. Jay Michael
of Woodland, WA and Dav­
id Michael of Chicago. 1L;
daughters, Jeanine Woods of
Heppner and Laurie Hyde of
