More and more buyers and
sellers are utilizing home war
ranty firms today than ever
before to have a measure of
protection from the expenses
of household repairs.
Many sellers offer to pay
for a home protection plan as
a sales inducement and to give
the buyer peace of mind from
added expense in case plumb
ing. electrical or like systems
fail during the first year that
the owner is in possession.
Some buyers are purchas
ing the policies themselves,
knowing that if any of these
mechanical systems goes out
during the first year, that a
small service fee will cover
expenses that could run into
hundreds of dollars.
Many firms offer these pol
icies nation-wide, and for a
few hundred dollars at the
close of escrow, items such as
water heaters, stoves, dish
washers, and even spas and
pools can be warranteed from
breakdown.
