Cliff Green (left) and Larry Mills (right) admire the rare 1915 Case 20-40 CrossMotor tractor
houses inside the Ag Museum in Heppner. The tractor was recently donated by the Ladd Henderson
family of Hood River. It was used on their family farm in North Lexington and later in the Rock
Creek area. It ran on distillate (kerosene) and was used as a stationary threshing machine during
harvest. The CrossMotor was one of the first tractors to be produced after steam-powered tractors.

Are you confused by
the terms Morrow County
Museum, Farm Foundation,
Heritage Museum, and Ag or
Farm museum? Sometimes
those of us involved with the
museums get confused also.
Let me explain these entities.
The
H eritage
M useum is the o rig in al
museum next to the library.
H ere we sh o w case the
artifacts and tools that were
part of the everyday life of
our ancestors. We also have
an extensive library of family
h isto rie s for g en ealo g y
study.
The Ag or Farm
museum is the old MCGG
grain elevator and flat house
located on Riverside Street.
Here we display old cars,
tractors, threshers, buggies,
wagons and a multitude of
farm implements from the
past. It is on this building that
the mural society has placed
the largest mural by one
artist west of the Mississippi.
Both
o f these
m useum s are ow ned by
M orrow
C ounty
and
to g e th e r m ake up the
Morrow County Museum.
The county maintains the
infrastructure and provides
som e
m onies
for
infrastructure operation.
The
Farm
Foundation is a non-profit
501 (c )3 corporation with
dues paying members and a
governing board. The Farm
Foundation contracts with
Morrow County to operate
the museums and collects
funds towards this end from
member dues, donations and
grants. All staffing and work
in the m useum s is by
volunteers; no salaries are
paid.
T hose p re sen tly
serv in g on the Farm
Foundation board are Larry
Mills, Bob Harrison, Butch
Laughlin, Cliff Green, Betty
Carlson, Bob Jepsen, Jim
Hayes, Merle Cowett and
B arbara
B lo o d sw o rth .
Because we are nonprofit,
we are always looking for
help— volunteers, donations
of cash and donations of
display items. We encourage
you to become involved. If
you would like to help in any
way, please contact any of
the board members or Kay
P ro cto r, our m useum
director at 676-5524.
The
h eritag e
museum is open Tuesday
through Friday, 1-5 p.m. and
Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Farm Museum
is open Friday from 1 -5 p.m.
and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3
p.m.
We invite you to stop
by and see the new additions
and displays. Bring your out
of town guests. You won't
be disappointed.
