meeting Jan. 17, that the
d istrict
has received
notification of nearly $8000
in federal title funds for the
2005-06 year.
Browning said that
the district received $5,042
for Title I A/D for prevention
and intervention programs
for neglected, delinquent or
at-risk youth. The district
will use this money for their
CAMP 5 program supplies
and the coordinator’s-extra
duty contract. CAMP 5 is an
ag e-ap p ro p riate activity
program held at the school
on one or two Fridays a
month for varying age
groups. The district plans to
carry over two thirds of the
funds in hopes of continuing
the program in 2006-07.
The district received
$1,901 for Title 1I-A, for
p re p a rin g , train in g and
re c ru itin g high quality
teachers and principals. They
will use some of the funds for
a fall speaker.
O th e r title funds
include: Title V, $359 for
promoting parental choices
and innovative programs,
which will be used for their
‘Read-n-Play’ program for
preschool children for 06-07;
Title HD, $90, use not
specified; Title 1V-A, $408

at the recommendation of
the Site Council, the board
approved the first reading of
a c h an g e
in policy
c o n cern in g the s c h o o l's
honor roll and honorable
mention criteria for students
in grades six through 12.
Selection will be based on
1st annual combined Booster Club
Appreciation Dinner to be held
the students’ grade point
average attained during the
grading period immediately
preceding the selection. High
school students must be
enrolled in at least four units
o f credit; middle school
students must be enrolled full
time with seven courses.
Students receiving less than
a C grade w ill not be eligible
for honor roll or honorable
mention. Likewise, students
receiving an incomplete or
no grade w ill not be eligible
for either. Students must
have a grade-point average
greater than 3.49 and have
no more than one C for
h o n o r roll
selection.
Students must have a 2.99-
3.49 gpa for h onorable
mention.

high school dress code.
Now, shorts and skirts must
be no shorter than mid-thigh,
when the student is in a
sitting position. Immodest
necklines and the show ing of
any undergarments are also
unacceptable.

Jan. 17 was 166 students
with 69 in grades K-five, 41
in grades six-eight and 56 in
grades nine-12.

students making wreaths
with teacher Tom Shear. The
first high school CAMP 5
was held Dec. 16 with

in clu d in g various cold-
w eath er item s, such as
heating pads, drink mixes
and wreaths among other
item s, to seniors in the
community. The next session
will be Friday, Jan. 27, from
9-10:30 a.m. for grades four-
eight. Jannie Allen, lone, will
teach students rock painting.

movie, "The Lion, the Witch
and the W ard ro b e,” in
wrapping up the literature
study on the C.S. Lewis
book, "The Chronicles of
Narnia.” The Booster Club
donated funds to lower the
students' ticket costs.

all property deeds are ready,
excluding the deed to the
district's house. Browning
said she would contact the
title company for further
information.

accident

School principal Dave Stone
was
involved
in
a
snowm obile accident on
Wednesday, Jan. 18 and as a
result of his injuries he was
transferred to a hospital in
Walla Walla for treatment.
He suffered broken ribs and
a lacerated liver, according
to Mark Burrows, Morrow
C ounty School D istrict
su p erin ten d en t. He was
released from intensive care
over the w eekend and
released from the hospital on
Tuesday, Jan. 24. It is
unknown when he w ill return
to his duties.
