Shamrockettes to restructure program
The Shamrockettes
Dance Team of Heppner has
decided to restructure their
p ro g ram to m ake th eir
program more accessible to
k ids in the H eppner
community. The current year
was a nine-m onth season
from June until March. The
Shamrockettes want to be
supportive of all other sports
and extracurricular activities
so they are restructuring
th e ir program into two
seasons that correspond with
the current Heppner sports
season schedules.
The new seasons will
be Summer and Winter. The
Summer season w ill be from
June (after school releases)
until the first w eek o f
S ep tem b er
(P en d leto n
R ound Up W eek). The
Winter season will be from
January (a fte r school
resumes from holiday break)
to March (St. Patrick's Day
Weekend). This will allow
the Dance Team to take part
in the biggest celebrations in
the community. Any girl who
decides to participate in a
season will be committed for
the 3 months. This way, the
girls can do all the sports
during the school year and
still do dance in the summer
if they so choose. If the
schedule overlaps with other
sp o rts, the team will be
flexible to allow the girls to
participate with their other
activity teams. Boys are also
encouraged to become a
members of the Dance Team
sport.
This year the team
will not be sharing their
Christmas routines with our
community but perhaps in
the future a Fall season will
be added if there is enough
interest.
