Beginning ballroom dance lessons for all ages will
soon be available in Heppner. Jodi Chapa, who is the leader
and organizer of the Shamrockettes youth dance team, is
planning to begin two sessions of dance lessons, on
Thursdays and Saturdays, starting September 8.
Beginning Rhumba sessions will be held September
8 and 15. Beginning Waltz will be held September 22 and
29. A combination of Rhumba and Waltz will be held
October 13. Beginning East Coast Swing will be held on
Septem ber 10 and 17. Beginning Salsa will be held
September 24 and October 1. A combination of beginning
East Coast Swing and Salsa will be held October 15.
“Did you watch ‘Dancing with the Stars’ on ABC?”
asks Chapa. “It’s not too late. You can learn to dance too.”
She says the classes are just the thing if you’re “getting
ready for a wedding or prom, getting into shape or just
having fun.”
Chapa says that anyone interested is welcome to
attend and may drop in a class for $ 10 per lesson or buy a
package of five lessons for $45. Discounts are available
for couples. To sign up, call Chapa at 676-8161 beginning
September 8. The lessons will be held at the Morrow
County Fairgrounds Annex.
Chapa is also hoping to start a Saturday night open
dance at the fairgrounds if she gets a good response.
Over the Tee Cup
Twelve ladies participated in the Willow Creek
Country Club Play Day on August 23. Pat Edmundson had
low gross of the field. Loa Henderson had low net of the
field and Luvilla Sonstegard had least puts of the field.
Other results are as follows: Flight A: low gross-

Pat Edmundson had a chip-in on #13 and #17.
Bernice Lott had a chip-in on #12. Best ball results are as
follows: Eva Kilkenny and Pat Edmundson took first place;
Betty Carlson and Loa Henderson were second; and Jackie
Allstott and Betty Christman were third.
The club championship and Eddi Skow Tournament
will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, September 6-7.
