SMCST presents five students with scholarships The South Morrow County Scholarship Trust is pleased to announce the recipients o f the 2005 scholarships in the amount of $500 each They are Shanna Rietmann, Barbara Holland, Jo sh u a L ankford, Blair Keithley and Kasie Peterson The five students were selected out o f 17 applicants on the basis of acad em ic ach iev em en t, ch osen field o f study, financial need, school p a rticip atio n , deg ree o f effort the student has made in seeking so u rc es for college and personal characteristics for success and school citizenship Shanna Rietmann is the daughter o f Mark and Tami R ietm ann She graduated from Heppner High School and is planning on atte n d in g Pacific University or Willamette U niversity, m ajo rin g in biology Rietmann is very active in school activities and is a v o lu n teer for many activities in the community She w as a C ham ber o f C ommerce Youth of the Year for 2005, on the National Honor Roll and Honor Roll 4.0 GPA for her high school years and was on varsity volleyball and v arsity basketball for all four years o f high school Rietmann was also varsity track for her freshman, junior and senior years Barbara J Holland from lone High School is the daughter of Dale and Karen Holland She plans on DA’s Report Matthew L Wilson was convicted of Attempt A/ Felony Burglary-1, a Class B felony He was sentenced to three years supervised probation, 90 days in jail, 80 hours community service and payment o f $1166 in fines and fees D uane Randall White admitted to violation o f probation allegations for Driving while Suspended- felony White’s probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 12 months probation Bridgett Virginia Paradiso pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class-C felony She was sentenced to 18 months formal probation, 80 hours community service, com pletion o f a drug package and payment o f $921 in fines and fees attending Oregon Institute of Technology, working for a degree in radiology. She has been very active in 4-H and was on varsity volleyball, basketball and golf for three years o f high school She is president o f the student council and secretary o f National H onor Society. Holland is very active in her community, serving as a junior golf instructor, Feed the Hungry project and lone Youth Group. She was named a Big Sky scholar ath lete and W h o ’s Who A mong A m erican High School Students to name a few. Jo sh u a L ankford from Heppner High School and is the son o f Steven Lankford from Lexington Lankford is planning on attending Portland State U niversity, studying electrical engineering He has been active in school serving on the student council, a member o f the National Honor Society, on varsity g o lf and on the Knowledge Master team for three years. He is also active in the community working on Veteran’s Day slide show, volunteer disc jockey and youth basketball. Lankford received Who’s Who Among A m erican High School Students, O u tstan d in g Achievement in Biology and 2002 Student of Merit Blair Keithley from Heppner High School and is the daughter of Jay and Kelli Jo Keithley. She is planning on attending Portland State University in the fall studying business management and adm inistration She is a member o f the National Honor Society, has served as class officer for three years. She is active in 4-H, volunteers for Colt volleyball and Colt basketball She has received aw ard s for outstanding achievement in m ath em atics, A m erican citizenship and excellence in social studies nine Kasie P eterso n , d a u g h ter o f A nita and Richard Peterson of lone is planning on a tte n d in g Willamette University.
