The lone Middle School girls’ “A” team defeated
the Spray Coyotes in a tight match on Friday, Jan 21, but
then dropped the ball in the fourth quarter against the
Arlington Gosling on Saturday, Jan 22.
At the end of the first quarter, the Coyotes and the
Cardinals were tied with six points each By halflime, the
Cardinals had a lead o f four points with the score at 12-8.
In the third quarter. Spray fell behind and the Cardinals
now had a demanding lead of 20-11 However, during the
fourth quarter. Spray had an amazing comeback scoring
ten points with lone only scoring six. With lone in
possession of the ball, the Cardinals just needed to let the
clock run out and that’s exactly what they did The final
score of the game was 22-21, lone coming out with the
victory
The leading scorers for the Cardinals were Tiana
Camarillo, Rebecka DesBouillons and Stefanie Archer
scoring six points each Victoria Heagy and Beth Morter
also scored two points each
The Cardinals started out strong in the first quarter
against the Arlington Goslings, leading 5-2 By halftime,
the Cardinals had a bit more o f a lead, 14-8 In the third
quarter, lone scored four points and Arlington scored six
points and they began to close in on the Cardinals In the
fourth quarter, the Goslings came to town and stole the
ball many times, scoring eleven points and lone scoring
zero, leaving the final score of25-18 Goslings.
The top scorer for the Cardinals was Brenna
Rietmann with five points. Tiana Camarillo made four
points, Heather Wiggers scored three points and Stefanie
Archer, Rebecka DesBouillons and Brianna Peterson each
scored two points
“The game was a very physical game The girls
came out strong in the beginning but let down in the fourth
quarter,” said Coach Lynn Dee Ramos o f the Arlington
game “We just need to put in four full quarters.”

The lone Middle School boys’ “A” team defeated
Spray on Friday, Jan 21 at home and traveled to Arlington
on Saturday, Jan 22 to defeat the Goslings
In the first quarter against Spray, lone managed to
score 11 points against Spray’s tough defense and Spray
scored seven By halftime, lone had only scored two more
points and Spray had scored eight, leaving the score at 13-
15 with Spray in the lead
In the third quarter, lone scored seven points and
Spray only managed three bringing a score of20-18, with
lone holding a slight lead In the fourth quarter, Spray began
to catch up and lone was in trouble, but the Cardinals stayed
strong to hold the lead and win the game, 37-33.
The top scorer for the Cardinals was Cory Peterson
with 13 points, followed by Matt Hams with 12, Clay
Morter with 11 and Stormy Kendrick with one point.
“Spray is a very good team and they forced us out
o f our offense in the middle quarters This was a very fast
and physical game and it came down to a couple of big
steals late in the fourth quarter,” said Coach Mike Garrett
“Our scoring was very balanced and we did a much better
job with the press break It was a good win for the kids.”
On Saturday, in the first quarter, the Cardinals pulled
ahead and lead the Goslings, 14-5 In the second quarter,
lone scored nine points and Arlington scored 14 points
leaving the score at halftime 23-19 with lone in the lead
By the end o f the third quarter, the Cardinals had a
lead of 10 points with the score at 37-27 During the fourth
quarter, lone scored 12 points and Arlington scored 10,
giving the Cardinals a win with a final score of 49-37.
Clay Morter lead the Cardinals with 16 points,
followed by Cory Peterson and Matt Hams with 10 points
each Stormy Kendrick added seven, Matt Coleman scored
four and Luke Bradfield scored two to tally the final score
Good efforts off the bench came from RJ Ramos, Mikey
Raible, Alex Carlson and Gunner Jessen
“We are starting to do a lot o f things right with the
basketball and it is fun to watch Defensively our help side
