CAPECO W orking To Keep

Winter can be the most expensive time of the year During
the winter we have more accidents, more illness, a higher
rate of unemployment and increased utility costs For people
who normally live on the brink of poverty , these ty pes of
added expenses can easily push them into financial crisis
Donna Kinnaman. CAPECO’s Community Services and
Energy Executive Officer, stated. "During the winter when
utility bills go up. some low-income folks are forced to
choose between heating and eating "
CAPECO strives to deflect some of these costs for the
low-income residents of Umatilla. Morrow. Gilliam and
Wheeler Counties by delivering the Low-income Energy
Assistance Program (LIEAP) Last winter 2.135 households
received a one-time payment This assistance is normally
paid directly to the utility vendors Eligibility is based on
gross income of everyone li\ ing in the house A single person
can make up to $ 1566 00 per month, two people can make
up to $2048 00 and a family of four can make up to $3013 40
The LIEAP program is arranging appointments in your
