Regulated use closure suspended until further notice

Forestry has been suspended
due to the significant and
unusual late August rainfall
event. This includes private,
state, county, municipal and
tribal lands in portions of
U nion, Baker, W allowa,
Umatilla, Malheur, Grant
and Morrow counties.
With the suspension
o f reg u lated use, the

restrictio n s on activ ities
such as w oodcutting and
campfires have been lifted.
The cooler, wetter weather
is a factor, but the trend may
not have diminished the fire
danger for the remainder o f
the summer and fall.

from the weather does not
m ean we are out o f the
woods yet. We will continue
to monitor fire conditions
and make adjustments as the
weather dictates.”
Human-caused fires
are on the rise this year, so it
is important to emphasize to
the public the importance of
campfire safety. Unattended
cam pfires are against the
law. A lso, recreatio n ists
m ust have lan d o w n er
permission before starting
cam p fires.
