T he C ardinals traveled to C ondon on Tuesday, Jan.

The C ards got o ff to a slow start in the first half, only
scoring 11 points to the Blue Devils’ 19. They recovered some
in the second half, but it w asn’t enough to overcom e Condon.
They lost 45-39.
Tyler R aible led the C ardinals with 10 points. Tyler
Brown and Kelly T hom pson had eight points each. Nick
C hristm an added seven points and C urtis Thom pson added
six points.
Curtis Thom pson and Kelly Thom pson tied to lead in
rebounds with six each. Christman and Raible had five rebounds
each and Brown had four rebounds.
C hristm an had tw o steals and one assist and Kelly
T hom pson had tw o steals and three assists. Raible had one
steal and one assist and Brown had five assists.
C oach D ennis Stefani said, “We cam e out fiat and
things just never changed. This loss hurts a lot. For our chance
to get to district, we are going to have to make a good run the
rest o f the season.”
Cardinal varsity boys soar

The Lady C ardinals traveled to C ondon on Tuesday,
Jan. 27 and out shot the Blue Devils 40-36.
This was a tight gam e with lone in the lead by a few
points, then C ondon in the lead by a few points. At halftim e,
C ondon led 20-18. In the second half, lone stepped up their
defensive and offensive gam e and outscored Condon 22-16.
Natalie M cElligott led the C ardinals with 11 points.
Emily Key added nine points, including two 3-point fielu goals.
Sara Peck added eight points. O thers scoring w ere Jenny
Griffith with one 3-point field goal, Barbara Holland with three
points and Kim Morris, Eva Chitty and Alyssa Rietmann with
two points each.
M cElligott also led the team with 10 rebounds, four
steals and three assists. Key had four rebounds and four steals.
Peck had six rebounds and one assist. H olland had five
rebounds, M orris had tw o rebounds and G riffith had one
rebounds. A m ber Patton had one rebound and one steal and
Chitty had one assist.
With this win. The Lady Cards keep the # 1 spot in the
Big Sky Conference.
Lady Cardinals take big win

T he Lady C ards took a big win over the W heeler
Falcons in a hom e gam e on Friday, Jan. 30.
In the first half. lone outscored Wheeler 38-20. During
the third quarter, the Falcons cam e back and outscored lone
11 -9. T he C ardinals cam e back strong in the fourth quarter
and had a 15-12 run, w inning the gam e 60-43.
The Cardinals were led by Natalie McElligott with 25
points, including four 3-point field goals. B arbara H olland
added 12 points and Emily Key added nine points, including
one 3-point field goal. Also adding points were Ashly Gram s
and Eva Chitty with four points each and Jenny G riffith with
two points.
M cElligott also led with seven rebounds, four steals
and five assists. H olland had seven rebounds. Key had five
rebounds, two steals and one assist. Peck had four rebounds,
three steals and one assist. A m ber Patton had three rebounds
and one steal, G riffith had tw o rebounds and one steal and
G ram s had one rebounds, one 'steal and one assist. A lyssa
R ietm ann had one rebounds and C hitty had tw o steals and
two assists.

In a tw o-quarter gam e, the lone JV girls defeated
W asco at lone on Saturday, Jan. 31
The Cardinals were ahead 10-3 at the end o f the first
quarter. They held the R edsides to six points in the second
quarter and won the g am e.21 -9.
A m ber Patton led the team with 12 points. A lso
contributing was Jenny G riffith with four points, A lyssa
Rietm ann and Tina Tuzarova with two points each and Ashly
Gram s with one point.
Patton also led with nine rebounds and one steal. Abby
Key had two rebounds, three steals and two assist. Rietm ann
had tw o rebounds and one assist. Tuzarova had one rebound,
one steal and one assist. G ram s had one rebound, one steal
and one assist and Kim M orris had one rebound.

The lone J V girls defeat the C ondon Blue D evils at
C ondon on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The Cardinals were in the lead 15-8 at halftime. In the
fourth quarter, C ondon stepped up their ottense, but still lost
to lone 41-38.
Kim M orris led the Cardinals with 12 points. Am ber
Patton added 10 points. Alyssa Rietm ann added five points,
Abby Key and K ayla LaRue added four points and Jenny
Griffith and Stephanie Holland added two points each.
Patton and H olland led w ith eight rebounds each.
Patton also had three steals and one assist. H olland had tw o
steals. Also contributing were Rietmann with seven rebounds,
three steals and four assists. Key had three rebounds, six steals
and two assists. Tina Tuzarova had three bounds and one steal,
Morris had three rebounds and one assist and Griffith had one
rebound, two steals and two assists. LaRue had one rebounds
and Gram s had one assist.

Falcons
In a hom e gam e on Tuesday, Jan. 27, the C ardinals
soared by the Falcons 67-49.
At the end of the first quarter, lone was behind 20-8.
In the second quarter, the Cardinals had a 23-9 run, with the
quarter ending 31 -29. The C ards outscored the Falcons 13-
10 in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, lone came out and
had another 23-10 run, w inning the gam e 67-49.
K elly T hom pson led the C ardinals w ith 24 points,
including tw o 3-point field goals. A dding to the score were
Nick Christm an with 14 points, including a 3-point field goal,
Tyler Brown with 13 points, including a 3-point field goal, Tyler
Raible with 10 points. Curtis Thom pson with four points and
John Walton with two points.
Brown led w ith 10 rebounds, four steals and nine
assists. R aible had six rebounds, one steal and one assist.
Christm an had four rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Kelly Thompson had four rebounds, two steals and two assists.
C urtis T hom pson had four rebounds and one steal. A rthur
Ekstrom. John Long and Brian Bunch each had one rebound.

D ie Cardinal JV boys traveled to Condon on Tuesday,
Jan. 27 and topped the Blue Devils.
At halftim e, lone led by one point, 15-14. In the third
quarter, C ondon cam e back and jum ped ahead 31-25. The
C ardinal’s good defensive and offensive gam e in the fourth
quarter held the Blue Devils to just seven points. The Cardinals
scored 16 points in the fourth and won the gam e 41-38.
Dan Long and John Walton led the team with 11 points
each. Dan Satterly had eight points, including one 3-point shot.
William Bergstrom had five points, including one 3-point shot.
A rthur Ekstrom had four points and C urtis T hom pson had
two points.
Coach Jim Swanson said, “This is our fourth win in a
row and another great comeback. John Walton and Dan Long
played a great game at both ends. O ur defense won this game.
They worked really hard.”
T he C ardinal varsity boys lost to the South W asco
Redsides in a hom e gam e on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The end o f the first quarter saw lone ahead 18-14. In
the second quarter, W asco gained 10-6 to tie the game. In the
second half. lone scored 27 points to W asco’s 27. The game
ended with the Cardinals losing 61 -51.
The Cardinals were led by Tyler Brown with 22 points.
Kelly T hom pson added 12 points, Tyler R aible added nine
and Nick C hristm an and A rthur Ekstrom added four points
each.
K elly T hom pson led w ith seven rebounds and five
steals. Brow n had six rebounds, tw o steals and three assists.
R aible had five rebounds and one assist. C urtis Thom pson
and Ekstrom had tw o rebounds each and Christm an had one
rebound, one steal and one assist.
The C ardinals are now 7-6 in the Big Sky League.

The lone varsity girls held on the South W asco
R edsides at lone on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The Lady Cards outscored the Redsides in each quarter
and by the end o f the gam e had increased their lead to win,
64-35. Everyone on the team contributed to this win.
A m ber Peck led the C ardinals with 19 points, 15 o f
these points were made in the second-half. Natalie McElligott
was close behind w ith 18 points. A lso contributing were
Barbara Holland with nine points, Sara Peck with eight, Eva
Chitty with six and Emily Key and Jenny Griffith with two points
each.
Patton led w ith 10 rebounds. M cE lligott had eight
rebounds, four steals and tw o assists. H olland had eight
rebounds and one assist. A shly G ram s had three rebounds,
one steal and one assist. Chitty had two rebounds, two steals
and four assists. G riffith and Kim M orris had tw o rebounds
each; Em ily Key had one rebounds and one assist, A lyssa
Rietm ann had one rebound and one steal and Abby Key had

The Cardinals overcam e the Redsides’ third-quarter
lead at lone on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The Resides outscored the Cardinals 36 -3 1 in the first
three quarters of the game. The Cards came back in the fourth
quarter with a 16-9 run and defeated W asco. 47-45.
Dan Long led the C ardinals with 20 points. W illiam
Bergstrom had 10 points, including one three-point field goal.
Dan Satterly had tw o 3-point field goals for six points. Arthur
Ekstrom had five points. Brian Bunch had four and John Walton
had two points.
Coach Jim Swanson said, “Dan Long h«*d a great game
that included 12 rebounds. John W alton had 10 rebounds.
We out rebounded W asco 34-17.”
In a thriller gam e, the C ardinal JV boys defeated
Central Christian at lone on Friday, Jan. 23.
T his w as a tw o-quarter gam e and at the end o f the
first quarter lone led 13-11. Tow ard the end o f the second
quarter the Cardinals dropped behind 22-19. With 12 seconds
left in the gam e, Dan Satterly made a 3-point field goal to tie
the gam e, 22-22. In four minutes o f overtim e, lone had a 12-
6 run to win the gam e 34-28.
Dan Long led the C ardinals with 12 points. O thers
contributing were A rthur Ekstrom with nine points, Satterly
with eight points, including two 3-point field goals and John
Walton with four points.
Coach Jim Sw anson said, “This is our third overtime
game this year. This was a great game by Dan Satterly and his
leadership at the end.”
