O bituaries Elwayne E. Bergstrom E lw ayne E. Bergstrom, 69, a lifelong H eppner re sid en t, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at his Heppner home. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 30,2004 at 1 p.m. at the Heppner Elks L odge, w ith concluding service and burial to follow at the H eppner M asonic Cemetery. He was bom Aug. 29, 1934, at Heppner, to Carl and Mildred Hanna Bergstrom. He attended Heppner schools, graduating from Heppner High School in 1952. He then attended Oregon Technical Institute in Klamath Falls. He had a 35-year career with Kinzua Mills. He was a member of the Heppner Elks Lodge and the Hermiston Eagles Lodge, where he and his wife enjoyed dancing. He was baptized and joined the Stanfield Seventh- day Adventist Church, where he was a deacon and assisted with the Primary Youth Group. On Sept. 15, 2001, he married Carol Cross at Hermiston. B ergstrom was a cancer survivor of over 20 years, which gave him a second chance at life. It was said he had an electrifying smile and always greeted everyone with a wave, a smile and often a story. Survivors include his wife, Carol Bergstrom of Hermiston; daughter, Christine Bruce and her husband Glenn of Gresham, Cindi Stinson and her husband D ave o f Woodinville, WA, and Kelli Meacham and her husband Kevin of Boise; son, Wayne Bergstrom and his wife Connie of Portland; brother, Robert Bergstrom of Heppner; 11 g ra n d c h ild re n ; three stepchildren; and 11 step- grandchildren. Love was born June 7, 1976, at Hermiston, to Bonnie Belle Smith Love and Harold C. Love, Sr. She was raised in H erm iston and graduated from Hermiston High School in 1994. She earn ed an associate’s degree from Blue Mountain Community College and took a year of college through Washington State University. She w orked at Ye Olde Pizza Shoppe and at Big Lots in Hermiston. She loved children and babysitting her nephews. She enjoyed reading, writing, watching movies and collecting stuffed animals. Ocie Kenneth Maynard O cie K enneth Maynard, 75, of Irrigon, a retired power plant mechanic, died of electrocution at his home on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004. A gathering for family and friends was held Jan. 30 at his hom e in Irrig o n . Inurnment will be later. He was bom April 8, 1928, at Mill, AR, to William R. and Cora Bell Graves Maynard. He was raised and attended schools in Arkansas. He joined the Navy, serving overseas during World W ar II and retu rn ed to Arkansas where he married Irene Hensley. Mrs. Maynard died in 1960. After graduating from The D alles High School, she attended The Dalles Beauty College then worked as a beautician at The Dalles for a number of years. On Oct. 28, 1972, she m arried W ayne E. He was a member of H erm iston Eagles Lodge 2909. Maynard is described as a loving father, grandfather and friend. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family.
