Crossing Guards honored

McCormack Construction which built
the new school. McCormack worked for
66 years in construction during which he built
schools, hospitals, churches and office build-
¡ngs. He said the people he worked with on
the Heppner school were some of the best

4 o.m . with a lunch break. This

beginners. It’s a w onderful
media to explore that includes
watercolors as well as learning
the technique o f scratchboard.

workshop is on colored pencil

again encouraged to attend.

These classes require
a prepaid fee o f $80 each.
Scratchboard is due 20 days
before the class (Dec. 29) and
the pencil class is 30 days pre­
registration or Jan. 14.

UO degree
candidates
announced for
fall term
Nearly 690 University
o f O r e g o n s tu d e n ts a re
candidates for degrees at the
e n d o f fa ll te rm 2 0 0 3 ,
according to officials in the
Office o f the Registrar.
Among tall term’s 683
degree candidates, 470 are
receiving bachelor’s degrees,
14 are certificate recipients,
153 are com pleting m aster's
degrees and 46 are finishing
doctoral degrees. Altogether,
they earned a total o f 687
degrees and certificates.

projects. They have helped
with the annual food drive to

sponsored the “ Souper Bowl
o f C a r in g ,” c o lle c tin g
donations for a soup kitchen
in P o r tla n d , as w e ll as
collecting soup for the Center.
The youth have all made trips
to B urnside in Portland to
serve the poor. They have
toured agencies, served in
so u p k itc h e n s and so rted
clothing for the poor o f the
area. They have participated
in w orship services, doing
follow-up projects to their trips
and sharing their experiences.
They have also sold cookies,
snow cones and Italian sodas
on the 4th o f July to help fund
projects.

Mustang JV girls
fall to Tigerscots

Mustang J V girls let a first half
lead slip away and fell to the
v isitin g W esto n -M cE w en
Tigerscots 36-30 on Friday,
D ec. 19. T h e M u s ta n g s
dropped to 0 and 3 on the
year and will play Im bler at
hom e on Saturday, Dec. 27
and Grant Union at hom e on
M onday, Dec. 29.
The Mustangs trailed
7-1 after one, but rallied to
take a 12-11 lead at halftim e
getting five points, including a
3-pointer, from Regi Seitz and
four points from Lyndi Patton.
The Tigerscots came back to
take a 24-21 lead after three
and held on for the win despite
seven fourth-quarter points
from Seitz.
Seitz led the Mustangs
with 12 points, four rebounds
and three steals. Patton added
11 points, five rebounds and
five steals. Sarah Price had six
re b o u n d s and tw o ste a ls.
H eather Y ocom had three
rebounds and two steals, Blair
K eithley had five rebounds
and Lynan Bingham had five
points.
