Thank You for the Memories
For the last 23 years, the
Heppner community has pro
vided a unique learning oppor
tunity for hundreds o f our
young people. Heppner has
offered these youngsters an
understanding of the environ
ment and lifestyles o f their
‘neighbors’ east o f the Cas
cades. The diverse collection
o f names that invested time,
energy, and the “real life” of
what came to be known as the
H eppner-C entennial/L ynch
T errace E xchange is vast.
‘Players’ who contributed to
the traditional spring event
ranged from the individual that
started the warming fires at
Anson W right Park, to the
Wheat League and their vital
aerial and ground preparation
demonstrations, to the Cattle
Association and ranchers who
personalized the livestock in
dustry, to the high schoolers
who provided insight to rodeo,
to the former host student that
coordinated enriching Forest
Service tours, to the Cowbells
who appeased hungry appe
tites, to the Heppner-Gazette
that faithfully featured the ad
ventures of kids, to all the Hep
pner students that hosted, to the
junior and senior high staff that
coordinated and assisted in the
mechanics o f the program, and
above all, to the many Hepp
ner families that opened their
homes to guests from the west
side. N eedless to say, the
above list could fill this page.
We are indebted to the Hep
pner community for its commit
ment and the role it played in
educating our young people.
C entennial students lucky
enough to be part of the ex
change experience cherish
their memories of Heppner.
We are hopeful the exchange
concept and personal gains
from this program w ill live on.

I know this letter will be in
adequate in thanking all our
wonderful friends, but it’s the
only w ay we know to reach you
all. Your never-ending love and
compassion has no equal. It
kept us going though a pretty
tough time.
The doctors, nurses and ev
ery employee at the hospital are
the most wonderful bunch of
caring people that could ever
be assembled under one roof.
How could we in Heppner be
so fortunate? Thank you all.
Thanks to all Mom’s friends
for the cards, flowers, food and
support. We will never forget
the enormous outpouring we
have been blessed with.
She leaves a great void in
our lives, but it is comforting to
know how many people of all
ages she positively touched in
her lifetime.
God Bless you all.
