Fair encourages attendees to keep clean
It turns out M om was
really right. W ashing your
hands after touching anim als,
especially the barnyard type,
is essential in preventing the
spread o f b acterial diseases
such a s E . coli.
The M orrow County Fair
is stepping up its efforts this
year to encourage all fairgoers
to w ash th eir hands p rio r to
eating the ham b u rg ers and
fries, etc., especially if those
hands have been petting the 4-
H anim als, or any other.
‘W ashing you hands is
quick, easy and very effective
in preventing m any bacterial
diseases, especially E. co li,”
said F a ir S e c re ta ry R enee
Yocom . “ W e plan to rem ind
ou r cu sto m ers often to w ash
their hands and to refrain from
eating w hile in the livestock
bams (Wilkinson Arena, etc.),”
she continued. Also children’s
toys and accessories should be
stored aw ay w hile in these
areas.
N u m e ro u s s ig n s
encouraging hand washing will
be placed in strategic areas
around the bams, especially at
entrances and exits. Two hand
w ashing stations will also be
available; one by the food area
a n d a n o th e r o u ts id e th e
W ilkinson arena. A table with
information about E. coli will
be in the W ilkinson Arena.
The M orrow County
F a ir w ants all fairg o ers to
enjoy the fair, so that’s why we
are asking everyone to help
prevent bacterial diseases by
w a sh in g y o u r h a n d s a fte r
p etting anim als and before
eating. D iseases such as E.
coli can be stopped in their
tracks by simply washing your
hands w ith soap and water.
So please rem em ber
to w ash up at the M orrow
C ounty Fair A ugust 13-17,
2003.
