T he C ard in al track team s traveled to H erm iston on M ay 16 and 17 to com pete in the Big Sky District Track M eet. Both C ardinal squads finished second overall. T he C ardinal B oys were led by Andrew Rietmann, with four first place finishes in the 100m dash with a tim e o f 11.10,200m dash with a time o f 22.69 and in the 400m dash w ith a tim e o f 52.85. He also ran the anchor in the 4x100 relay. C a y le K re b s to o k home three first place ribbons in the shot put with a throw o f 43 feet 53A inches; the discus w ith a throw o f 134 feet 10 inches and as third leg in the 4x 100 relay. M ike Radie took h o m e tw o s e c o n d p la c e finishes in the 100m dash with a tim e o f 11.72 and the 200m dash w ith a tim e o f 23.71. Radie also w as on the first place teams o f the 4x 100 relay and the 4x400 relay. N ick Christman finished fourth in the high jum p with a jum p o f 5 feet 6 inches, sixth in the 100m dash w ith a time o f 12.32 and on the first place team s o f the 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay. C o d y B e r g s tr o m finished third in the 1500m with a time o f 4:47 and sixth in the 3000m w ith a tim e o f 11:33. Tyler Brow n finished fourth in the jav elin w ith a throw o f 127 feet 2 inches and was on the 4x400 relay team finishing first. Kelly Thompson finished third in the 400m with a tim e o f 54.25, sixth in the 200m dash w ith a tim e o f 25.31 and w as on the first place team o f the 4x400 relay. Til Tullis finished second in the 110m hurdles w ith a tim e o f 18.09, he also finished sixth in the 300m hurdles with a time o f 48.43. T h e 4 x 1 00m rela y team o f Radie, C hristm an, Krebs and Rietmann finished first w ith a tim e o f 45.79. The 1 6 0 0 m r e la y te a m o f Christman, Brown, Radie and Thompson finished first w ith a time o f 3:45. The follow ing boys qualified for the State Track Meet to be held in M onmouth on May 24: Andrew Rietmann (100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m Relay); M ike R adie (100m , 200m , 4x 100m relay, 4x400 Relay); Cayle Krebs (Discus, Shot Put, 4 x 1 00m R elay); N ick Christman (4x 100 Relay, 4x400 Relay); Til Tullis (110 H urdles); K elly T hom pson (4 x 4 0 0 R e la y ); and T yler Brown (4x400 Relay). The Lady C ardinals were led by Diana McElligott. She fin ish ed first in three individual events, the 100tn dash with a tim e o f 12.87, the 200m dash w ith a tim e o f 25.89 and the 400m with a time o f 1:00. N a ta lie M c E llig o tt finished first in the Triple Jump w ith a ju m p o f 33 feet 2 inches, second in the long jum p with a jum p o f 14 feet 9 inches and third in the high jum p with a jum p o f 4 feet 10 inches. Sarah Peck finished fifth in the javelin with a throw o f 88 feet 6 inches and fourth in the discus w ith a throw o f 88 feet 10 inches. Kim Morris finished sixth in the high jum p with a jum p o f 4 feet 4 inches and sixth in the 800m w ith a time o f 3:07. M issy Baker finished fifth in the shot put with a throw o f 28 feet 4 inches and sixth in the 100m dash with a tim e o f 14.32. The 1600m relay team o f G ram s, Peck, B aker and C hitty finished second with a tim e o f 4:38. H eppner took first w ith 113 points, against lone, Stanfield, Echo and Pilot Rock. B rendan M cElligott created a new school record in the 1500m running in 5:51, breaking the 1994 record set by Tim Dickenson o f 5:53.27. M c E llig o tt w a s a ls o th e cham pion in the 800m . He took second in the triple jum p at 33 feet 10 inches, a personal best; and placed third in the 400m. Bryson Wood was the champion in the 400m. He also took second in the 200m and th ird in th e 100m . A aron Allstott was the cham pion in the shot put. He also placed s e c o n d in d is c u s . C a le b O ’Neal was the cham pion in the high jum p. He also placed third in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the 100m. Tony H aguew ood placed second in the 300m hurdles and the high jum p. Haguewood also placed third in the 200m and fifth in the 100m h u r d le s . N a th a n VanC leave placed fourth in the 300m hurdles and the javelin and tied for fourth in shot put. M att M cC abe placed fifth in discus. Justin Delveaux placed third in javelin. Casey O ’Neal placed third in high jum p. C a se y O ’N eal and Delveaux placed fourth in the 4x 100m relay. Casey O ’Neal, D elveaux and C aleb O ’Neal placed fourth in the 4x200m relay. F or the girls, C yde C o il w a s th e h ig h ju m p champion with a jum p o f 4 feet 5 inches. She also placed third in the jav elin . K elsey W olff took third in the 800m and fourth in the 400m. Megan Orr placed third in the shot put and Kylie Doherty placed fourth in the discus.
