Saturday, April 12, from 9
a.m. - 2 p.m. It w ill take place
at the Bank o f E.O. parking
lot in Heppner.
The court is also doing
other fundraisers this year, in
which they are raffling off'a gift
basket worth over $400 and
two halves o f a hog. Tickets
can be bought from any o f the
girls or their parents. The court
is also collecting Red Apple
receipts with drop boxes at
Murray's Drug, Bank o f E.O.
in Heppner & lone, and also
at the M.C.G.G Foodmart.

Scouts serve as “jurors” to learn about legal system
IES third-grade students receive tour of new school building.

chance to see how the legal

serv ed asjurors in a mock trial

“ Bob" was charged
with criminal mischief and theft
o f a four-wheeler. A victim and
an investigating officer testified
and photos, fingerprints and
other evidence were presented
just like in a real trial. The

Port o f Morrow Conference
Center and Tuesday, April 29
at the Heppner High School
cafeteria; both forums will be
held from 6:30-9 p.m.

Spring is in the air and
new things are coming up
everywhere including lone's
new E lem entary School,

recently donned their hard hats
and toured the new building.
The stu d e n ts w ere very
excited and curious about the
new classrooms and gym. The
following are some comments
and thoughts from the third
graders:
“ We saw all the
classrooms and the gym was
on the top o f the building. Our
hats were borrowed from the
onion plant so our heads
smelled like onions when we
were done.” -Steven Holland
“My new school is
huge and dirty because it is not
built yet.” -Adam Collin
“My favorite part was
the skylights in the roof.” -Zac

“The new school was
awesome because they called
they watched the attorney and
witness talking.

deliberated the case, which
they took seriously, according
to their den leader, Tina Raver.
