The annual closure for inspection, maintenance and re p a irs at th e C o rp s o f Engineers’ eight navigation locks along the Columbia and Snake rivers is coordinated with shippers and cruise lines. Locks at Lower Granite, Little Goose, Lower M onumental, and Ice Harbor on the Snake River and at M cNary at the confluence of the Columbia and Snake will observe the same closure schedule as Bonneville, The Dalles and John Day. Locks are norm ally d ew atered for a com plete inspection every five years. Full dewatering o f the navigation lockisscheduied for Bonneville and John Day in March. The D alles w as c o m p le te ly dewatered in 2001. Dew atering permits the Corps to perform a more extensive inspection that can only be done without water in the lock chamber. The Mustangs finished the season with a 14-11 record under coach Dana Reid and it marked the final game in a Mustang uniform for seniors, Lacey Matteson, Nikki Sisk, Jesse K em pas and Tylynn Smith. It looked good for the Mustangs early as Stefanie H an so n h it a 3 -p o in ter, M atteso n m ade tw o free th ro w s and hit a running jumper, Madison Bailey hit a 3-pointer and Hanson scored inside to make it 12-4. The win improved the M ustangs record to 20-6 and set up a rem atch with Umatilla in the second round on Friday, Feb. 28 in Pendleton with the winner advancing to the state tournament.
