Huskies lived up to their number

Saturday, Feb. 15 in M oro in
Columbia Basin Conference play.
The M ustangs fell to 8-4 in the
CBC and 12-10 overall, with this
loss.
Stefanie Hanson had four
points and Tylynn Smith hit a 3-
pointer in the first quarter, but the
H uskies took a 16-9 lead and
increased it to 37-13 at the half.
H anson hit a 3-pointer
to open the third and C helsea
Britt scored three points, but the
Huskies took a 51 -21 lead after
three.

The H eppner M ustang
JV girls had tw o w ins over the
weekend, beating Umatilla 35-26
at hom e on Friday, Feb. 14 and
rallying in the second halfto beat
the Sherm an C ounty Huskies,
48-45, on Saturday, Feb. 15 in
Moro. The M ustangs improved
to 13-7 on the year and will finish
out the year with a road game on
Friday, Feb. 21 at W ahtonka.
Against the Vikings, the
M ustangs had a 6-5 lead after
one and w ere tied 12-12 at the
half as Katie Britt had five points
in the second quarter.
The M ustangs got nine
points from Terra W ilson in the
third as they took a 23-21 lead
and got four points from Britt,
including a 3-pointer, as they out
scored the Vikings 12-3 in the
four to win going away.
Wilson had 11 points, six
rebounds and four steals. Britt
had 11 points, four rebounds and
three steals. Krystal N aim s had
four rebounds and tw o assists,
Laurie Murray had six rebounds,
Blair Keithley had five rebounds,
Linsey Mitchell had four assists

more from Piper as they hung on

Mustang C-team ends season by downing Weston-McEwen

A 22-7 run to end the
third and the fourth quarters gave
the H eppner M ustang “C ” team
a 63-48 win over the W eston-
McEwen Tigerscots in Athena on
T h u r s d a y , F e b . 13. T h e
Mustangs ended the season with
a 13-2 record with the two losses
com ing to Mac-Hi.
The M ustangs jum ped
out to a 19-8 lead after one getting
five points from Rory Kilkenny
and four each from M atthew
VanCleave and Mikel Britt. They
increased their lead to 36-24 at
the half, as Britt had six points
and Kilkenny four more points in
the second quarter.
T he T ig e rsc o ts cam e
back to tie the gam e at 41 -41 in
the third but the M ustangs went
on their run outscoring them 13-
5 in the fourth, getting four points
each from VanCleave and Britt.
Britt led the M ustangs
with 15 points, with VanCleave
adding 14 points. Kilkenny had
nine points and Matt Kenny and
Kory Paullus each had six points.
