to Dufur
The saying, “free throws
win games5' coulcfrtot have been
truer in the battle between the
lone girls JV and the Dufur girls
JV, Friday, Jan. 24. With one
second left on the clock, the
Cardinals led the game 55-53 but
a foul on the inbound pass gave
Dufur the chance to take the
game into overtime. The Rangers
calmly sank both shots and then
went on to a 63-61 victory over
the Cardinals.
Ashly Grams had a team
high 18 points followed by Jenny
Griffith with 12 points and four
steals. Abby Key went for nine
p o in ts and g ra b b e d e ig h t
rebounds. Alyssa Rietmann put
up eight points pulled down nine
rebounds and had six steals. Eva
Chitty had eight points, four steals
and six rebounds. Kim Morris
added four points and Caitlin
Orem chipped in with two points.

The lone Cardinal boys’
JV played their best game o f the
season despite losing to the Dufur
boys’JV 33-37, Friday, Jan. 24.
The Cardinals played
tough defense throughout the
game limiting the Rangers to
mainly out side shots game.
Offensively they were patient and
looked like they had finally come
together.

commented, “I feel that although
we did not come away with the
win the boys played their hearts
out and I cannot ask more o f
them”.
Dan S atterly led the
Cardinals with 14 points and four
steals. Tyler Raible and (Jene Ball
com bined for 14 with seven
apiece. Curtis Thompson had
three points and eight rebounds
and N athan Rae added tw o
points.

The Dufur Rangers shot

while the lone Cardinals’ boys’
varsity where just two o f nine
and that was the difference in the
game, causing the Cardinals to
lose 59-47 to Dufur, Friday, Jan.

The Rangers played with
heart and attacked the hole on
n early ev ery play but the
Cardinals never looked out of the
game and where only one point
behind at the end of the third. In
the fourth quarter Dufur hit 8 o f 9
free throws on route to outscoring

the Cardinals, 22-11, and taking
the 12-point win.
Tyler Brown had 13
points, Andrew Rietmann had 12
points, Cayle Krebs and Karl
Morgan each had six, Nick
Christman and Kelly Thompson
each had four and Billy Gates had
two points.
Lady Cards rally to win over Rangers
At the end o f three
quarters the lone girls’ varsity
where trailing the Dufur girls’
varsity 33-45 but railed in the
fourth quarter to take a 55-52
win, Friday, Jan. 24.
This was a big win for
the Cardinals as it increases their
record to 4-1 in the Big Sky
Conference and 10-4 overall,
keeping them in the running for
a district play-off position.

injury as she had a game high of
22 points. Diana McElligott had
eight points with a four-for-four
performance from the charity
stripe. Barbara Holland had six
points, Emily Key and Ashly

points.

February classes
Childcare Resource and
Referral will be offering various
classes during the months of
January, February and March
for child care providers and
parents.
A First Aid and Infant Child
CPR class will be offered Feb.
8, in Boardman at the Head
Start Center. The class will be
from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and there
will be a fee of $ 10. This class
is required by the Child Care
Div ision for anyone wishing to
become a registered family care
provider. The class will provide
training in the use of infant and
child CPR, illness prevention,
injury and emergency care.
A class that will provide a
way to make snack time a fun
and nutritious time will be
offered Feb. 8, in Boardman at
the Head Start Center. There
will be a $5 fee and the class
will run from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Handouts will be provided. The
class is appropriate for child
care providers and parents.
Feb. 10, a Family Child
Care Overview class will be
provided at no cost. The class
will be held in Boardman at the
Head Start Center from 6:30-
8:30 p.m. This class is required
by the Child Care Division for
anyone wishing to become a
registered family child care
provider and will include
information on recently passed
regulations.
