Mustang boys lose at Mac-Hi
Mustang JV girls lose to Hermiston

JV girls fell to 1-1 on the year
afte r losing to the v isitin g
H erm isto n F rosh 4 4-26 on
Monday, Dee. 9. The Mustangs
will at home again on Friday,
Dec. 13 against Riverside before
going on the road to Mae-Hi,
Saturday, Dee. 14.
The Mustangs fell behind
14-7 after one despite five points
by Tiffany Piper and trailed 27-
14 at halftime as Piper added five
more points in the second quarter.
Terra Wilson scored all
four o f the M ustangs' points in
the third as they fell behind 35-
18 after three and they played the
Bulldogs even in the fourth but it
w as not enough.
Piper led the Mustangs
with 12 points and grabbed six
rebounds with Wilson adding six
points and four steals. Blair
Keithley had nine rebounds and
two steals and Katie Britt had
four rebounds and a steal.

The Heppner Mustang
boys' varsity had their first loss

14.
The Mustangs led 11-7
after one getting four points from
Luke M urray and a 3-pointer
from Chuy Elguezabal and got
three points each from Brad
Adams and Justin Botefiihr in the
second but the Pioneer took a
23-21 lead at halftime.

points in the third as the Mustangs
went on an 8-0 run to open the
third but the Pioneers came back
w ith 10 straight points to increase
their lead to 33-29 going into the
fourth. Murray hit a 3-pointer and
scored five points in the fourth but
the Mustangs couldn’t overcome
the deficit.
Murray finished with 13
points before fouling out and had
10 rebounds. Adams scored nine
points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Botefiihr had eight points and 10
rebounds and Elguezabal had
three assists.

Mustang JV girls as they were
outscored 14-5 by the Mac-Hi
Pioneers w ho came from behind
to w in 3 1 -30 on Saturday, Dec.
14 in M ilton-Freewater. The
Mustangs (2-2) w ill play next at
lone on Thursday, Dec. 19 at
5:30 p.m.
The two teams were tied
at 6-6 after one as Terra Wilson
scored fo u r p o in ts for the
Mustangs and the Pioneers took
a 16-15 halftime lead despite fiv e
points including a 3-pointer from
Nikki Sisk in the second quarter.
Lindsey Mitchell scored
four points in the third as the
Mustangs outscored the Pioneers
10-1 to take a 25-17 lead into
the fourth hut Mac-Hi came back
to nip the Mustangs at the buzzer.
Tiffany Piper had six
points and six steals, Mitchell had
six points and Sisk had five points.
Katie Britt had five rebounds and
three steals, Blair Keithley had
four rebounds and two steals and

Susan Southworth had five steals
for the Mustangs.

Mustangs “C” team runs past Tigerscots

The Heppner Mustang
“C” team used their deep bench
to run past the visiting Weston-
M cEwen Tigerscots 50-32 on
Tuesday, Dec. 10 to run their
record to 2-0 on the year. The
Mustangs will play Pilot Rock in
Heppner on Thursday, Dec. 19
at 6 p.m. before taking a break
until Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Stanfield
at 5:30 p.m.
The Mustangs took an
11-6 lead after one getting four
points from Kory Paullus and
took a 21 -15 lead at halftime as
Matthew VanCleave scored 10
second-quarter points.
VanCleave added four
more points in the third as the
Mustangs extended their lead to
33-26 after three. Paullus had
four points and Kyle Carlson
added three in the fourth as the
Mustangs coasted to the win.
The Mustangs were lead
by 19 points from VanCleave,
w ith Paullus adding 10. Carlson
finished with seven points and
Rory Kilkenny added six.

violin, will perform with the Inland Northwest Musicians in their
presentation o f “Handel’s Messiah" this coming weekend, Dec. 20-
22 .
The concert locations and dates are: Friday, Dec. 20 at 7:30
p.m. at the Echo Community Center in Echo, sponsored by the
ToleMac Inn; Saturday, Dec. 2 1 at 7 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian
Church in Milton-Freewater, sponsored by Preferred Travel; and
Sunday, Dec. 22 at 4 p.m. at Wheeler High School in Fossil,
sponsored by Stanley Ranch and Condon Times-Joumal. Admission
to all concerts is by free will donation.
The Inland Northwest Orchestra is led by R. Lee Friese,
music conductor and director. Soloists for the concerts are Karen R.
Trees, soprano; Mary Finney, alto; Nolan Frost, tenor; and Harvey
Foreman, bass.
