Meet the 2002 Morrow
County Fair and Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo Court
representative to the lone Schools
Queen Salli McElligott is the
18-year-old daughter of Paul and
Charity McElligott of lone. She
has an older brother, Jeremiah,
and a younger sister, Diana.
Salli is a 2002 graduate of
lone High School. She has been
very involved with her school,
community and county during her
high school career. She has been
a mem ber o f the North Lex.
Livestock 4-H Club for the past
eight years. She has held several
class offices and this past year
served as lone High School
Student Body President. Salli
as
the
student
serves
Site Council and is the student
representative to the Morrow
County Parks District. She has
been a member o f the OSSOM
and Drama clubs, FBLA, Varsity
Volleyball Basketball and Tennis
teams. She has helped coach for
the pee-wee basketball program
as well.
She is also a member of the
lone Youth group and St. William’s
Catholic Church. Salli was a
pennant bearer for the Morrow
County Fair and Oregon Trail Pro
Rodeo for two years and served
as a princess in 2000.

Salli has enjoyed serving as
an am bassador for M orrow
C ounty and says she w ill
remember her experiences for
years to come. Salli plans to attend
college this fall at either
U niversity o f P ortland or
Willamette University and work
toward a bachelor’s degree in
political
science
and
communications. She eventually
plans to seek a degree in
environm ental law ato help
ranchers and farmers maintain
and save their land.
Queen Salli invites everyone
to the Fair and Rodeo and hopes
they have a great time.
Princess Julie Proctor is the
daughter o f M ike and Kay
Proctor. She has an older sister,
Josie, and a younger brother, Roy.
Julie is an 18-year old
graduate from Heppner High
School, where she was a member
o f N ational H onor Society,
Drama C lub, yearbook and
newspaper staff, Student Council
publicity director, OSSOM
president, a STARS instructor, and
a representative on the Heppner
Chamber of Commerce. Julie is
also employed at the Bank of
Eastern Oregon in Heppner and
plans to study business and public
relations in college.
Julie is a n ine-year 4-H
member. She is a member of the
Bamyarder’s Swine Club, is in an
individual program in sewing and
is a m em ber o f Phat Photos
photography club. Julie is also a
leader o f The Cookie Cutters 4-
H club and has been a Morrow
County 4-H Ambassador for the
past three years. She has enjoyed
staying very active in 4-H while
participating with and helping with
Princess Julie Proctor, Queen Salli McElligott and Princess Genia Grant
many activities.
Julie has enjoyed following in
her family’s footsteps and her
time on the Morrow County Fair
and Pro Rodeo Court and hopes
to see you all at this year’s fair
and rodeo.
Princess Genia Grant is the
17-year-old daughter of Bonnie
Grant and the late Michael Grant
of Heppner. She has two older
brothers, Tyson and Treve, an
older sister, Jennifer, and a
younger sister, Josey.
Genia will be a senior this fall
at Heppner High School. She is
involved in many groups
throughout the com m unity,
including OSSOM, Wildhorse
Club, Wrangler’s Riding Club,
Hermiston Barrel Club, and St.
Patrick’s Youth Group and has
participated in 4-H. In 4-H, Genia
competed in cooking and sewing
projects. She also plays varsity
softball and volleyball and enjoys
helping her grandmother on her
ranch on Big Buttercreek.
In school as an elective,
Genia works at the grade school

for three class periods. When she
graduates, she wants to be a pre
school teacher. She says working
at the school with the kids has
helped her to leam more about the
career of teaching. Genia enjoys
the company of the children, and
likes to be a positive role rodeo
for them, giving them someone to
look up to.
For the past two summers
G enia has w orked at her
grandmother Marilyn Schiller’s
ranch. At the ranch, she helps with
the cattle, horses and haying.
Genia’s family has always
been active when it comes to
rodeo. Her grandfathers have
always participated in the sport of
rodeo. One grandfather, Kenny
Grant, was the grand marshal at
the Halfway rodeo two years ago.
Genia’s mother was a princess for
the Morrow County Fair and
Rodeo in 1979, and her cousin
Maci Childers was a princess in
1997 and queen in 1998. Genia
was a pennant bearer for the
Morrow County Court in the
summers of 1999 and 2000.
This summer, Genia’s official
mount will be her six year old
quarter horse, Berry.
Genia looks forward to seeing
everyone at the fair and rodeo,
and wish everyone a fun and
enjoyable time in Heppner.

The Fair board is raising money
tow ards a new b o y s’ dorm.
Containers will be at the fair
office; deposit your money for
your favorite one or two. The
w inners) will get to “Kiss A Pig”
during the 4-H Awards ceremony
on Saturday night, Aug. 17, at 4:30
p.m. Fair board members are
Shirley Adams, Sheri Gregory,
Kelw ayne Haguew ood, Alan
Holmes, Mark Jones, Lori Seitz
and Jim Swanson. The “winners”
