St. Pat’s Parade
participation
invited
St. Patrick’s Day is little over
a month away and the crews for
Heppner's Annual St. Patrick’s
Day Celebration, “A Wee Bit o’
Ireland.” are gearing up to make
this year’s celebration every bit
as festive and homespun as the
previous 18. One of the events
that is a highlight every year is the
parade on Saturday, March 16, at
1 p.m.
Craig Strobel, chairman of the
Parade Committee, is putting out
the call for entries for the parade.
Past entrants are being invited to
come join the fun again this year
and new entries are alw ays
eagerly encouraged, particularly
if they feature an Irish theme. All
comers are welcome to place an
entry in the parade. Last year a
family visited from the Tri-Cities
area and won a prize in the Irish
Character division. “This year,
you might be the winner,” said
Strobel. “ But everyone who
enters is a winner, and it’s all about
having fun and enjoying the
festivities.”
Categories for participation
include Irish float, Irish Character,
Irish Bicycle, Irish Golf Cart, (you
get the idea), Bands and Drill
Teams, Antique Vehicles, and Irish
Open Class (commonly called
“ M iscellaneous” ). The only
request is that equestrian entries
be reserved for the Fair and
Rodeo Parade in August.
Entry forms are available by
phoning the Heppner Chamber of
Commerce, 676-5536, or Strobel
at 676-9224. In addition, forms
will be available at Van Marter
and Kahl Insurance in Heppner,
or can be downloaded from the
H eppner
W ebsite,
