lone varsity men defeat Arlington Heppner G azette-Tim es, Heppner, Oregon W ednesday, February 6, 2002 - THREE lone easily defeats Helix lone varsity men defeated Arlington, 56-42, on Tuesday, January 29. lone had a 10-15 deficit at the end of the first quarter, dumped in 15 points and held the Honkers to seven points to take a 25-22 lead at the half. Brad Burright was the main point producer for the Cardinals with 27 points. Burright also contributed 10 rebounds, three assists, and four steals and blocked three Arlington shot attempts. Andrew Rietmann added 11 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals to the team's effort. Ashley Roberts scored six points, grabbed two rebounds, two steals and handed off five assists. Nick Christman added five points and two rebounds. Adam Neiffer scored four points, captured four rebounds, and delivered two assists. Karl Morgan added two points in the fourth quarter and apprehended four rebounds. Billy Gates scored one of two attempts at the foul line in the third quarter, captured one rebound, and delivered two assists. The Cardinals shot 50 percent from the line. lone varsity men stun Condon lone easily defeated Helix on Saturday. The Lady Cardinals secured their win by outscoring the Grizzlies, 60-25. Natalie McEUigott was the leading point manufacturer with 17 points. McEUigott also contributed two rebounds, blocked two shots, led the team with 8 steals and passed out six assists. Diana McEUigott added 12 points, three rebounds, and three steals and delivered two assists. Salli McEUigott scored nine points, captured three rebounds, three steals and delivered two assists. Kristina Powell scored seven points, apprehended five rebounds, three steals and swiped three G rizzly possessions. The Cardinals took an early lead and every time the Blue Devils were about to overtake the Cardinals, Billy Gates would hit another three-point shot to widen the gap. Gates couldn’t miss, hitting six of seven attempts from the three- point region. Needless to say, Billy Gates had the game high of 22 points, while delivering one assist, grabbing one rebound and capturing two steals. Brad Burright continued to score in the double digits with 18 points. Burright also contributed three assists, led the team with 14 rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals. Ashley Roberts scored 14 points, handed off one assist and seized four rebounds. Adam Neiffer played aggressively, scoring 11 points, handing out four assists, grabbing three rebounds and capturing three Devil possessions. Nick Christman scored two points, delivered two assists and brought down four assists. Condon added 18 points in the third quarter to lead 43-19 at the end of the quarter. lone stepped up their level of play in the fourth quarter to add 10 points, but were unable to recoup their losses of the third quarter and lost, 29-58. The Devils came back to lead the Cardinals 39-31 at the end of the third quarter. The Cardinals played excellent defense holding the Devils to only three points for the entire fourth quarter before falling to Condon, 36-42. The Lady Cardinals were shy the leadership consistently provided by teammate, Amellia Peck. Peck suffered a serious ankle injury on Thursday, preventing her any game time the entire weekend. Natalie McEUigott led the Cardinals on the scoreboard with 15 points. McEUigott also grabbed five rebounds, two steals and delivered four assists.
