Sheriff's Report
The Morrow County S h e riff s
Office (M CSO) reports handling
the following business:
-Heppner and lone fire depts.
received a report o f a fire on
Blackhorse Canyon and upper Bell
Canyon.
-Heppner Police Dept, received
a report o f juveniles in a pickup in
Heppner harassing another subject
and trying to start a fight. Contact
was made with the juveniles and
they went home.
-MCSO received a report o f a
lightning strike fire two miles north
o f Highway 207/Bombing Range
Road junction. It was out o f district
and being fought by civilian crews.
-MCSO received a report o f a
possible fire; there was a large orange
glow from 1-84 eastbound east of
Tower Road. A deputy was unable
to locate the fire.
-M CSO received a report o f a
lightning strike fire near Juniper
Canyon. The lone Fire Chief advised
he was unable to locate a fire at this
location.
-M CSO received a report o f a
fire, possibly on Blackhorse Canyon.
-M CSO received a report o f a
glow east o f the coal-fire plant on
1-84 eastbound. A deputy was unable
to locate the fire.
-M CSO received a report o f a
grass fire burning on Highway
207/Sandhollow Road. The fire was
out o f district.
A ug. 13: MCSO, Boardman
Police Dept, received a report of
a commercial intrusion alarm at the
Port o f M orrow. A window was
found open. The building was cleared
and secure and the alarm reset.
-Oregon State Police received
a report o f an audible alarm and
motion alarm at Gregg's Tavern in
Im gon. All was okay; it was the
cleaning woman.
-Oregon State Police received
a report o f a registered black Angus
bull missing from lone for 10 days.
-M CSO received a report from
Les Schwab Tires in Heppner that
they wd*e going to repossess a tool
box, a set o f chains and two tires.
-Oregon State Police received
a report o f a sem i-truck on 1-84
westbound traveling at a high rate
of speed and swerving back and forth
over the lines.
-MCSO received a report from
Boardman City Hall that someone
at a Boardman residence found a
gray and yellow cockatoo in her yard
if anyone calls and reports one
missing. She was going to leave town
but would leave the bird with a
neighbor.
-M CSO, Oregon State Police
received a report from a caller at
the Boardman eastbound rest area
that he had been following a driver
who was possibly DUD or very tired.
The driver was also at the rest area.
-Boardman Police Dept, received
a request for a welfare check. The
caller advised her 11-year-old
daughter was nine days late being
returned by her father.
-MCSO received a report from
a caller in Umatilla that her vehicle
tire was slashed last night after a
confrontation with a customer.
-Heppner Police Dept., Heppner
Ambulance received a request for
an ambulance for a 51 -year-old man
in Heppner who had been at the
Pioneer Memorial Clinic and been
advised to return the next day, but
was now having difficulties. The
patient was transported to Pioneer
Memorial Hospital in Heppner.
-MCSO received a report o f a
lawn chair between lanes on 1-84
westbound that was causing a traffic
hazard.
-MCSO received a report from
Brown's Auto and Truck in Imgon
that drug paraphernalia was found.
-M CSO received a report that
a Gilliam County dum p truck on
1-84 westbound was losing gravel.
The gravel had broken two windows
at that point.
-M CSO received a request for
deputy contact in Boardman. The
caller said a person hit her in the
chest two days ago. The caller was
transported to the Boardman
Christian Center to spend the night
then to Walla Walla, WA, the next
day.
-MCSO, Union Pacific, Boardman
Fire Dept received a report of a grass
fire near the railroad tracks just off
Highway 730.
Aug. 14: MCSO deputy reported
two juveniles in Im gon riding
bicycles early in the morning. The
juveniles were advised to go home.
-M CSO, Oregon State Police
received a report from Arlington
o f a burglary in progress at the
caller's residence. Two female
subjects were involved, one was
identified. They were dnving an
older pickup believed to been route
to Boardman.
-M CSO, Oregon State Police
officers arrested Shawna Faye Hahn
for Burglary I and Theft II. She was
lodged at NORCOR and her vehicle
was to be impounded in Arlington.
-Heppner Police Dept., Heppner
ambulance received a report o f a
female subject at the Heppner library
who hurt her leg. The patient was
transported to Pioneer Memorial
Hospital in Heppner.
-M CSO, Oregon State Police
received a report o f a speeding
vehicle on 1-84 eastbound.
-MCSO, Boardman Police Dept,
received a report from the Trail
Apartments in Boardman of a female
subject there who wouldn't leave.
An officer was unable to find the
subject.
-Heppner Police Dept, received
a request for officer contact in
Heppner regarding a traffic problem.
-M CSO, Im gon Ambulance
received a request for an ambulance
for a 85-year-old woman in Imgon
who was ha\mg breathing problems
and chest pains. The patient was
transported to Good Shepherd
Medical Center in Hermiston.
-MCSO received a request for
deputy contact in Imgon regarding
a stray cat that possibly had rabies
and broken legs.
-MCSO deputy reported locating
an illegal dump in Imgon. A message
was left for the Corps o f Engineers.
-MCSO received a hang-up 911
call from Boardman Auto in
Boardman. On call back, all was
confirmed to be okay; it was a wrong
number.
-Boardman Police Dept, received
a report o f a rental vehicle from
Yakima that was not returned. The
driver and the vehicle were at a
residence in Boardman. Hie caller
requested that the police dept, find
the driver and the vehicle.
-MCSO received a request for
deputy contact regarding a female
subject driving by the caller's
residence in Im gon in violation of
a restraining order.
-M CSO received a request to
locate a female subject driving a
vehicle with Alaska plates. The
subject was supposed to meet with
the caller but hadn't appeared vet.
-MCSO received a request for
deputy contact regarding a residence
that had burned in Im gon a few
months ago. The caller wanted to
know' if anyone had been seen at
the residence.
-MCSO received a request for
deputy contact in Im gon regarding
a horse the caller sold. The buyer
just left the horse in the caller's
driveway.
-MCSO received a request for
deputy contact regarding a confused
customer at Dodge City M otel in
Boardman.
-MCSO received a report o f a
compressor broken in Boardman.
-MCSO received a report o f a
female subject driving with no
operator's license or insurance. The
subject left Hermiston in a dark blue
vehicle, possibly heading for her

-US Forest Service received a
report of a lightning strike fire near
the Madison Butte area, with smoke
and flames. Another report o f a fire
by Madison Butte was also received.
-Boardman Police IXrpt., Morrow
County Behavioral Health received
a report from Dodge City Motel in
Boardman about a female subject
being a problem again. The subject
fell asleep but if she caused anymore
problems would have to leave the
motel. The Boardman Christian
Center was not able to deal with her
anymore.
-MCSO, Boardman Police Dept,
received a report from the Boardman
w estbound rest area o f a suspicious
male walking around the rest area.
-MCSO, Boardman Police Dept,
received a report o f a person lying
next to a vehicle at the Napa Auto
Care Center in Boardman. It was
discovered the person's vehicle had
broken down.
Aug. 15: MCSO, Boardman
Police Dept, received a report from
the Boardman 76 station that a
custom er advised he hit two deer
on 1-84 two to three m iles east o f
Boardman. One was in the median
and one on the north side o f the
freeway. Oregon Dept, of
Transportation was notified.
-Boardman Police Dept, officer
was summoned to the Boardman
76 station to escort a female subject
back to her room at the Dodge City
M otel in Boardman.
-Oregon State Police received
a report from a male subject that
his UPS truck and trailer had broken
down on 1-84 and was partially
blocking the roadway. He had flares
placed and a mechanic was en route
from Hermiston.
-Oregon State Police received
a report o f debris on Highway 207
near the Bombing Range Road. It
appeared to be road dept, equipment
that must have fallen from their

Candace is the daughter ofMr. and Mrs. Elesworth Snyder of Cumberland,
Maryland and William Edward Miller, also ofCumberland. She is a 1996
graduate o f Fort Hill High School and a 1998 graduate o f Allegany College
ofMaryland with a degree in elementary/ early childhood education. Candace
received her bachelor's o f science degree from Frostburg State University
in May 2001. She is employed with Valley Health System/ Valley Medical
Transport in Cumberland, Maryland, as an emergency medical technician
and as a substitute teacher for the Allegany County Board o f Education.
David is the son o f Clifford Green, Heppner, and Lucinda Godard
o f Philomath. He is a 1985 graduate of Heppner High School and a 1988
graduate o f Blue Mountain Community College with a degree in business
management and marketing. David is the owner and operator o f Heppner
G arbage Disposal.
The wedding will take place October 6,2001, in Cumberland, Maryland.
After the wedding, the couple will reside in Heppner.
