Talent show slated for Thursday Food galore!
“ Absolutely Nobody” is
There will be food galore at the
Morrow County Fair this year.
Featured outside, along with the 4-H
Snack Shack, will be " Zamora's"
from Mitchell with Mexican food,
"Ma and Pa's Festival Feast", selling
chicken fajitas with Spanish rice,
veggie fajitas, fresh dipped battered
fries and onion rings. Another outside
concession stand will have brats on
a stick, grilled sandwiches on 'Texas
Toast", buffalo wings and an
assortment o f ice cream products.
Lind's Popcorn wagon will also
have caramel com available this year
and C and R Ice will feature their
popular Hawaiian ice. Those whose
mouths are watering for Kettle Kom
are in luck as it will also be available
this year.
Needless to say there is something
for everyone to eat at the fair.
This year, the Morrow County
Fair Talent Show will be held on
Thursday, August 16 from 4:30-6:30
p.m.
The day and time have been
moved so that those who would like
to participate in the talent show but
also attend the Oregon Trail Pro
Rodeo can participate.
Entrants in the talent show should
look in the Premium Book for
categories and an entry form.

Visit Tillamook Creamery fair booth
The
Tillamook Creamery
Association will once again
participate in the Morrow County
Fair.
Everyone is invited to stop by
and visit them to find out how they
are progressing with the Boardman
facility and to welcome them to
Fair board hopes
to build a new
boys’ dorm
The Morrow County Fair Board
is in the process o f raising money
to build a new boys' dorm.
The new dorm will be built where
the present restrooms are at the
football field. This building will be
able to be used during football season
as a team meeting room and will
provide restrooms for the public.
It will also have pay-showers that
will be available to the public.

to have this addition to the
fairgrounds."

Judging contest
back by popular
demand
The Livestock Judging contest
is also back by popular request The
last couple of years judging clinics
have been featured at the fair, not
a contest. This year a livestock
judging contest will be a part of fair
a g a in .
The contest will included two
classes o f beef, sheep and swine and
an oral reasons class.

You might even get a "little bit
of dairy" as they will be giving away
samples o f delicious Tillamook
Cheese.
Fair pet show
The annual Pet Show, an event
enjoyed by both participants and
audience, will once again be held
on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
This year following the show,
a new event has been scheduled-the
Ugliest and Prettiest Pet contest. The
best in those categories will be
selected at 2 p.m.
Everyone is invited to join in and
see the variety o f all the many
different types o f pets.

Local performer Joe L indsay will
be back again this year, but under
a different name. Formerly with
"Absolutely Nobody." Lindsay w ill
perform this year as "Somebody
Else."
Come listen to this talented singer
during the Murray's County R ose,
Wine and Micro-Beer tasting from
6:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday at the
fair.
Get your “ spitters” ready
Get ready, get set. . .spit. Kids
and adults are reminded to get your
spitters ready for the Watermelon
Seed Spitting contest which is
moving to Wednesday at 3 p.m. this
year.
Children of all ages (this includes
adults) are welcome to participate.
A pnze will be given to the one who
can spit the farthest in each category'.
Come participate and have a slice
o f Hermiston watermelon.

Fair herdsmanship contest reinstated
The herdsmanship contest will
be reinstated this year after a one-
year hiatus.
"Last year we tried something
a little different and it did not have
the desired effect," said Bill
Broderick. 4-H and livestock agent.
"Also, many people wanted the
contest back."
The contest will be conducted
much the same as in the past. It will
be a club contest and not an
mdi\idual contest. C ontest guidelines
may be found in the fair book
Mexican Folkloric Club to perform
The talented, local Mexican
Folkloric Club will not only dance
in the Morrow County Parade, but
have also planned a performance
at the fairgrounds right after the
parade. The 4-H Club from Imgon
w ill perform at the Morrow County
Fair at noon on the stage
"Come on out to see these kids,
who have worked so hard during
the year, dance for your enjoyment,"
said a fair spokesperson.
