Fair C om m ittee has been busy
planning the K ic k -O ff D ance and
entertainment for the fair. They have
spent num erous hours in planning,
advertising and getting everything
scheduled.

County Fair on Friday from 1-2 p.m.
T h is "talented w om an ", w ho
resides in Pendleton, is the daughter
o f Walt and Charlene Nix. formerly
from Heppner. now livin g in
Hermiston
N ix. having spent her childhood
grow ing up in Heppner and singing
to old 45 records on her phonograph,
has "grow n into on e o f the hottest
sensations in local country m usic

"T h ere are so m any special
memories and friends that I haven't
seen." says Lisa. "I am ex cited to
g o back and perform for all o f them
and to say h ello again."
Nix has perform ed on numerous
occa sion s, in cluding local talent
show s, rod eos and 4th o f July
celebrations. She w ill also perform
in the M orrow C ounty Fair tloat at
1 lem uston and Pendleton parades.

Native American legends,
songs presented at fair
T om M cCorm ack, an acclaimed
performing-artist, will present the
"beauty-w ay o f N ative-A m erican
legends", interspersed with cedar-
tlute music, drum, clapper-stock and
rattle, at the M orrow C ou n ty Fair
on Thursday from n oon to 1 p.m.
"Through the "blessing way" o f the
sacred circle this "storyholder"
weaves indigenous mythology," said
a release.
S ince 1988 M cC orm a ck has
presented legends across North
A m erica and internationally at
sch ools, libraries, festivals, p o w ­
w ow s, museums and other diverse
venues. He perform s the O regon
and Cahfom ia Trail through the eyes
o f native and pioneer children.
T h is refreshing rendering has
distinct d ia logu in g characters
throughout the perform ance.
