Summer of music continues on Columbia
I"he fourth summer o f music on
the Columbia River continues
Monday. July 16. in Boardman. Six
outdoor concerts remain in the free
senes alternating between Boardman
and Imgon. Except for Sunday, July,
22, all perfonnances are on Mondays
and begin at 7 p.m.
Families are invited to bring lawn
chairs, a picnic supper, come early
and enjoy the parks before the
performances.
Monday. July 16: Bram Brata
Steel Drum Band - a 20 member
Tri-Cities based steel band group
with members from sixth through
12th grade. Bram Brata uses 23 steel
drums o f seven different sizes,
blending pop with raggae to create
a warm and unexpectedly beautiful
sound. O f course. Bram Brata plays
C anbbean music, but also gives their
special treatment to pop tunes,
romantic ballads and music from
the movies as well. "Hear them once,
and you will become a Bram Brata
"groupie" for life," said coordinator

Sunday. July 22: Gorge Winds
Concert Band o f White Salmon -
"If you heard this band at the
Arlington Big River Band Festival,
you know how they will bring back
memories o f your hometown band
and Sunday afternoon concerts in
the park," said Michael. This 40-
member band will perform at 3 p.m.
on Sunday. Don't miss this
traditional Sunday afternoon big
band concert, Imgon M anna Park,
3 p.m. Sunday.
M onday, July 30: Smiling
Scandinavians - Five Seattle
musicians bring happy, bouncy
music for your sum m er evening
pleasure. "If you enjoy tuba music,
the expertise o f the tuba player will
send you to heaven," said Michael.
"This group is guaranteed to put
a smile on everyone's' face."

Monday, August 6: Somebody
Else - an a capella quartet with roots
in Morrow and Umatilla counties
specializing in harmony and
comedy. Somebody Else spun out
of a Pendleton based a capella men's
quartet, "Absolutely Nobody."
Here's a chance to hear the new
group in Morrow County. Members
Joe Lindsay, Cory Cooley. Bill
Mayclin. and Stacie Eollett promise
a relaxing evening on the banks of
the Columbia River. Imgon Manna
Park, 7 p.m.
Monday. August 13: Homestead
Quartet- a family group composed
o f John Wambeke playing guitar
and performing vocal arrangements,
sons Frazer, 14, on the keyboard,
and Spencer, nine, slapping the bass
upright and daughter Liberty
providing vocals. Homestead
Quartet involves the audience with
sing-along and fun. Magical Mitchell
masquerades as a photo journalist
for the East Oregonian by day, but
is a professional magician in his
real life. Don't miss his new
specialty act: "The Guillotine o f
Death!", Boardman Marina Park,

named to
dean’s list
Albertson College o f Idaho has
announced its dean's list for the
recently com pleted 2001 spring
semester. To be eligible for the
dean's list, a student must earn a
3.75 grade point average.

Watermelon Festival volunteers
will repeat the popular barbecue
dinner that topped o ff the 2000

Lindsey Waterland and Austin Coiner, both o f Pendleton, announce
their engagem ent to be married.
Lindsey is the daughter o f Karla W aterland o f Pendleton and the
late George Waterland. She is a 1997 graduate o f Heppner High School
and graduated from Blue Mountain Community College in 2001 with
an associate's degree in nursing. She will be working as a registered
nurse at Good Shepherd Com munity Hospital in Hermiston
Austin is the son o f Barb Coiner o f Fleppner and Dan Com er of
Pendleton. He is a 1^94 graduate o f Heppner High School and attended
Blue Mountain Community College. He is now employed at Aramark
in Pendleton.
The couple will be married Saturday, July 21,2001 at the First Church
o f God in Pendleton.

Street lights from May to Center
streets were out.

cited Sandra Moore, 41, for
Violation o f City Ordinance for
Declaration o f a Public Nuisance.
-MCSO received a report from
a subject in North Carolina who
feared for the life o f a woman and
her son in Umatilla. The call was
transferred to the Umatilla Police
Dept.
-MCSO, Heppner Police Dept,
received a report that a man
threatened to tear down a fence and
cause bodily harm to a woman in
Heppner.
-MCSO received a request for
increased patrols in the Lexington
area for speeders.
-MCSO received a report o f an
unwanted subject driving by the
caller's residence in Boardman.
-MCSO. Heppner Police Dept,
received a report of an employee
who had just been fired and was
very upset.
-MCSO. Boardman Police Dept
received a report o f neighbors
dumping garbage behind the caller's
residence in Boardman.
-MCSO. Boardman ambulance
received a request for an ambulance
for a woman in Boardman who had
fallen from her wheelchair, was
trapped underneath and needed help
getting up.

arrested Larry Douglas Prock. 40.
on an Imgon Justice Court warrant
for Failure to Pay Fine/Criminal
Trespass II. He was lodged at the
Umatilla County Jail.

subjects traveling in a suspicious
vehicle without plates going south
on the Bombing Range Road.

May 24: M( SO received a report
o f an audible alarm at the Im gon
76 station. It was a false alarm
-MCSO received a report from
the Umatilla Chemical Depot that
they would be doing a "leaker
isolation procedure" and that there
w as no liquid agent inside the igloo.
-MCSO received a report that
an ex-husband w ho has a restraining
order against him keeps calling his
ex-wife at her mother's residence
in Im gon.
-Linn County S heriffs Office
deputy arrested Thomas Allen
I lamman. 34. on a Morrow County
Circuit Court w arrant for Ifrobation
Violation. He w as lodged at the I .inn
County Jail.
-MCSO received a report from
Boardman that a woman was
trespassing and the caller wanted
to press charges.
-Multnomah County Sheriffs
Office deputy arrested Duane Roy
McGee, 30, on an Im gon Justice
Court w arrant for DIJ11 He w as
lodged at the Multnomah County
Jail on local charges with a hold
placed for Morrow County
-MC SO received a report from
lone of items stolen from a wallet
in a truck while the owner w as at
his cabin at along the Hardman
Spray Highway the previous night.
-MCSO received a report from
a man in Imgon that a woman keeps
calling and threatening him.
-MCSO received a request for
a deputy contact from Columbia
Middle School in Imgon regarding
a student who did not show up for
school but was last seen heading
there.
-MCSO received a report of a
lost steer in Imgon. The steer was
located.
-MCSO received a report o f a
found Brahma heifer. The owner
was found and the heifer returned
-MCSO received a report from
a subject in Boardman of horses
m issing from their pasture in
Hermiston. The caller thought it
might be a man repossessing the
horses. A message was left for the
man to confirm and the caller was
told it was a civil matter and to
contact an attorney.
-MCSO. Boardman Police Dept
received a report o f an audible alarm
at the Port of Morrow administrative

room. The building was secure.

received a report o f a barking dog
near the caller's residence.

Imgon that someone had run over
the caller's fence at her residence.

m et his fiance, Paula Tillery, at a Lion's Quest workshop in 1997 in
Hermiston. After dating for almost three years. Trueax, Heppner Lion's
Club Secretary, will wed Paula Tillery, a kindergarten teacher, in a double
ring ceremony at the Desert River Inn Convention Center in Umatilla
on Sunday July 22.2001, at 2 p.m. Echo Judge Bob Shannon will officiate
the ceremony.
The couple will reside in Im gon after a honeymoon on the Oregon
Coast.

for 2001 spring semester. To be on
the list, students must carry 14 or
more graded credits and have a 3.3
grade point average or higher.

The Willow Creek Country Club
will have a family barbecue on
Sunday, July 15, at 4 p.m.
Each family is asked to bring
their own meat to the barbecue
