BULLETIN BOARD
By Liz Straley
In case you have not noticed, the "St. Patrick's Senior Center and
Apartments" with a shamrock has been applied to its former place on
the center front window.
It was a very quiet weekend. Exercise class was held on Tuesday
morning and two card tables were in play with the usual coffeepot on
and cookies available. The puzzle comer was busy and snacks w ere offered.
Velma Wright o f the puzzle com er has signed up to do volunteer
work at the nursing home in the afternoon. She is to be com m ended
for her good help. Irene Anhom also plays the piano at the nursing home
for Sunday services.
There were 93 diners and takeouts on W ednesday, served by the
capable kitchen staff and chefs. Howard Gilliam said a short prayer
and later on a good joke, as is his habit. Corol Mitchell announced about
the Bingo bus leaving on the first and third Thursday o f the month.
Corol also announced that she will be leaving her job at the meal
site and will be leading a restful home life with golf and more golf. She
will be missed and her shoes will be hard to fill. Good luck, Corol.
There will be no meal on Wednesday, July 4. The meal will be served
on Thursday, July 5.
Sylvia McDaniel's daughter, Carolyn McDaniel, and Dick Ruhl and
friend from Lexington were in taking pictures o f the puzzle com er with
Sylvia McDaniel and Velma Wnght. He has a new camera that is equipped
with com puter disks and was trying it out. We hope they come out.
The Hermiston shopping trip will be leaving the center at 10 a m.
on Friday, July 13, so sign up for it at the office or call in and get your
shopping list made out.
Thursday exercise class was held in the morning. Lunch of barbecued
chicken, pasta salad, fruit salad, muffins, cookies and beverages were
served. The recent movie, "How to Make an American Quilt" was enjoyed
by all.
There were three card tables o f players on Friday with the coffee
pot on and a selection o f cookies and a fruit platter served. There were
a lot o f welcomed new faces and we hope they continue to play.
This is my last article and I have enjoyed doing it. I hope I have
kept you informed on the comings and goings here. I shall miss all the
friends I have made here, the residents, the card players and the gossip.
My family and I wish you all the best and continued success. God bless
you all.
